Every couple has days where they fight, and our Blue and Red duo are no different. Whether it be an honest mistake, a simple misunderstanding, or just something said at the wrong time in the wrong way, it will happen. The best thing people can do is get some space, take a breath, and come back to it later and talk it out. Rai was sprawled across the couch, various games laying around him, failed attempts at distractions as he mulled over earlier. He had, once again, said something at the wrong time in the wrong way and the mood had been shattered. What started out as a wonderful day now felt hollow, and unpleasant, with a thick feeling of tension hanging above his horns. He sighed, laying his head back and laid an arm over his face.
“I’m so sorry Red… I really fucked up back there...”
It was then that he felt a weight gently crawl onto him, and as he opened his eyes he saw a brilliant, fiery mane nuzzling into his chest.
“Julie…?”
The mane moved, speaking up at him in reply.
“Shut up and love me…”
Her voice was soft, and Rai’s heart shattered as he did as ordered, pulling her into his arms.
“I’m so so-”
He was cut off, a gray finger to his lips.
“I said shut up and love me… Please…”
Rai opened his mouth to speak again, wanting to apologize, wanting to fix everything, wanting to bend over backwards to not hear that soft, strained tone over her normal voice. Instead, he laid his arms around her and held her close, petting her slowly as the pair enjoyed their lover's company.
When Nojiko found her parents later, their tears had dried and small but noticeable smiles were left on their lips. The most important part of a fight between couples is letting the other know, no matter what happens, no matter what words are said in the moment, that each side is loved deeply, and nothing will change that.
