Up in the bamboo highlands of china's wintery mountains, far away from the complexities of the mainlands lives a simple brown raccoon with an unusual desire- He thinks he is a fox. He's very good at being a fox, He is quick like one, He eats like one, he even has the cunning to match a fox. He simply does not have the fur and shape to match.
And with the snows just beginning to melt, and the first shoots peeking through the powder, He realizes, He also does not have someone to share his meals, wits and triumphs with.
Karma is kind to those with good hearts in this place, and as Karma would have it for this kind, but confused little raccoon, Not to far away was a black fox.
Spurned and forgotten during this season of need for her smaller size, she had wandered far from the territories of the well established boys. For her, this year would be just as the last one- Lonely.
It wasn't that she was mean or unkind- She had a great heart, to great a heart for the runtly sized fox to keep to herself. She was not particularly good at hunting, But even hungry, shared her quarry with scavengers.
Presently, The little black fox had found a disused rabbit's burrow for shelter. Her bladder reminded her of a pressing need, and took a break to find a spot among the thicker bamboos she had thought to be isolated. Snow capped tail flit aside, she squatted her body down-
Steps away, a confused raccoon took in a scent he knew well. his eyes closed, his nose opened, he followed the tip of his snout, though brush and young bamboo, sooner then he even expected, his snout and wiskers became plastered back with a distinct salty, bitter wetness- heavenly to the raccoon, but he knew it ment he'd gone to close. cheeks warm and ears red with embarrassment, a little shame, his eyes opened to meet what he fully expected to be the wrathful anger of a vixen.
Instead, The face he saw was just as embarrassed and flushed, but she made no move to shoo or stop the curious creature.
so they shared in this rare, accidental moment. Raccoon indulging his unnatural instinct, Kind fox finding a smile in shearing happiness.
It would only be the first of many things they would share in the future, near and far, for karma had seen fit that these two were ment for one another. They would share in food and in hunt. They would share den and body, and would have more then thair fair share of troubles and strife. But most of all, they would share life
