Very sweet! One act of kindness deserves another.
There have been times that I wish shoes/boots WERE made to be repaired. Of course, manufacturers these days make more money if their products wear out and you have to buy a replacement. But since I ride a motorcycle, and boots are a requirement, it would be nice to make an "investment" in the boots, rather than just replacements (which can get rather pricey for decent quality footwear). In all my research on finding boots, I have only come across a scant handful that it was even *possible* to replace the sole.
Thanks for sharing, V.

Ah yes, a very nice uplifting story and the kid's poem, haha, it made me smile! Generosity isn't very common in this world anymore, let alone one showed in reply with such positive gratitude. I was at work today and an older lady about 80 ys/o asked me for help nailing back on a piece of metal siding which fell from the eave of her house, an extension ladder was needed to reach and she couldn't climb it and asked for help. So with a smile I helped her out, it was a small thing for me but meant a great deal to her, her gratitude was more than enough for me and the warmth in my heart knowing I helped her out in her time of need. As I was walking back to the jobsite I heard her tell her neighbor that "such generous and kind young men are rare these days!", it really made me feel good
This was a solid read. Genuine respect is something we've been far too short of these past couple of centuries.
I found your dialogue for the youth quite amusing too, I'll admit I would have chalked it up to someone just writing how they think younger people speak these days...but sadly, I have heard people speak in ways that aren't too far off from that.
I apologize for not going more in-depth...depression's an old friend that refuses to betray me, it seems.
