I took a break from commissions since all the ones i need to get done before march are delayed in one form or another (duct tape dummy is not here, fur is not here, ect) so i fiddled with a yoshi. for these i am using cuddle fleece which is more or less like a really short fur (and oh so soft)
they won't be done for a long time so this is also kind of a sneek peek/teaser.
i knew seams may be an issue, and i am making 3 of them, so i actually made a duct tape pattern this time, 9 panels and it is similar to the way a beach ball is put together.
this head already took twice as much time as planned because when i glued on the fleece the seams made me wanna cry, and i even used white glue so i could scoot the pieces around and make sure the edges bumped up. the seams bothered me so much that i ripped it off and sat down and hand sewed a new nose...i cannot believe the sewn cover actually fit, i have never sewn a ball before.
i normally glue my heads and with fur i can get them seamless but with cuddle fleece it is just too short for glued seams to be hidden X_X
there is still a seam, that is unavoidable (and i brushed and picked at the seams with a pin) with this material, but the sewn seams are MUCH MUCH SMALLER!

*flails* My Unicorn is March! So close D:! I'm super stoked, I finished my partial stuff for her and hooolycrap am I wishing I comissioned it instead XD I dont know how in the hell i'm going to do the GD body suit XD But i have a partial! WEWT.
I definately think the hand sewing is the way to go, but after sewing all the crap for my partial I can understand how tedious it gets O_O;; But, on the plus side, you can lounge on the couch while you hand-sew! That's what i did! I watched all 6 Star Wars movies while making ONE hoof-glove and two arm sleeves XD
Whenever I get my Dragoness comissioned I was wondering what sort of material she'd be made out of. I really wanted a fur of some sort because I mean.. i like being soft D: but i didnt want like.. zomgFUR.. but this stuff you're using seems really nice, do you think it'll make a body suit well?
Keep up the good work, and ZOMG FC FC FC FC :D

after 3 years of sewing EVERYTHING by hand i finally went on a quest and found a sewing machine deep inside my house, mom said i could use it if it worked and it does, oh and i hope beastcub reads this next part
always go back and hand sew the ENDS OF THE SEAMS when useing a machine stitch

oh gods. I got some of that to make a hat once. I ended up stuffing the scraps in a plastic bag and forgetting about it...... hehe, I wonder if the bag o fluff has been opened by the person who got my fabric...e.e
Seriously Fluff. if it had been blue it would have looked like the death of cookie monster :o As it was I was cleaning "snow" off my worktable for a week. AFTER I vacuumed it. and after a year I would find little bits of fluffy bits. like styrofoam beads but in fluffy >.< urrrrrg!.
e.e it did make a nice coommmmfy hat tho.

lol. I was like. ooooh sofftttt. and I bet it isn't so bad.
I can see it shedding worse than fur. fur has a backing, and if you cut it right there should be minimal carnage.
but not with this stuff...good god. from the amount I used for the hat, I had a blizzard in my room. and one hat shouldn't have caused that.
which is why it was trapped in a bag afterwards *nods*
