This is why you need to clean out the refrigerator on a regular basis.
Originally for the portfolio and aimed at a certain company which I'm supposed to be talking to soon, but I outdid myself on the weird.
Extraneous note: I rather enjoy Lovecraft's writing. His descriptions of weirdly abstract, supposedly incomprehensible monstrosities always leave my brain trying to decipher what such things would look like.
Second note: Shiny.
Anyways. Old sketch from funtimes at Akicon fixed up in a few hours. Enjoy.

There's not nearly as much Lovecraft inspired stuff on FA as I would like.

This is very well rendered, I'm glad it is coloured because such things would be difficult for the mind to process as line art! It reminds me of what could be the monsters in The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath that tickle people!
It really is horrific thinking about that....

Ffff lol you just blew my mind, I love how the octopus/squid/Idon'tknowmyseacreatures thing is nested up there in the cabbage with that hand gripping it. Also the ribcage gives me the heebies. It's cool that even though it's such a contorted being, you can still make out its anatomy, like the spine direction heading back with the tailbone poking out, and the abdominal muscles/plating along it's underbelly. Very weird :D
The greatest success of portraying the impossible biologies of a Lovecraftian horror that I think I've ever seen. Just when I start to see a segment that looks familiar, a different part invades it and distorts the concept. This tortured mass is just...beautiful, in it's own twisted icky way. I'm trying to envision it moving. All I can see is a very unrythmic limp accompanies by grinding crunches.
Just as it should be.

If not in the refrigerator, then behind it which is founded a narrow staircase leading up to a non-existent top floor of your house. That's where you'll see the technicolor atmosphere and semi-material throne which this would be hunched upon it as it howls "ZOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLL!!!"
Lovecraft is the literature teacher I never had. Superb work, Ms. Theus!

An artist attempting to depict the un-depictable otherworldly reality warping monstrosities from across the sea of chaos, deep within the celestial void where all things were spewed forth as imagined by the greatest macabre fiction writer to have EVER lived? Instant fave and watch. ;3
By the way...the fact that an artist is attempting to depict the "un-depictable" is WONDERFULLY fitting given Lovecraft's own lovely propensity for attempting to describe his monstrosities immediately after he says they are in-describable... :P

I am having difficulty comprehending what I am seeing. o____o
It is an asymmetrical entity with some ability to walk on land, composed of seemingly familiar body parts, but all arranged in such a way that defies our understanding of biology. Insides are out, the hide is colored so vibrantly yet so mismatched, a patchwork organism compared to what even the oceans of Earth can conjure. A truly alien physical entity, with an appearance that can drive men mad.
Sometimes I wonder of Lovecraft actually encountered aliens.
