Background:

Her name is Kaela Rulf. She is a 19-year-old sabercat who works full-time as a barista in one of my world's many industrial centers. The company she works for is well known and commonly discussed as one of the better mega-chains of coffee brewers. Unfortunately, this means her workplace gets frequently bogged down with several peak hours caused by production workers and office staff rushing in to get their caffeine fix. Her rebellious streak of not listening to the grown ups in her teenage years, combined with her stress in her working environment, has made her hardy and insensitive to some degree. Customers occasionally ask her out while getting their grandes and ventis. All attempts quickly fail with a backhanded quip about their appearances or personalities from the snarky feline.

Outside of her work, Kaela likes to be outside and away from the crowds that pester her so much. She's familiar with the many urban and nature parks within her city, choosing to stop at the ones that are ignored for the sake of isolation. Right after the end of her shift, the routine-oriented cat will grab herself the tallest cup of (black) coffee she can get, pick up her backpack containing her expensive headphones and the latest fantasy novel she hooked herself on, and take the shortest route via mass transit. Once she arrives, Kaela scouts for the most comfortable spot to begin her ritual of immersive reading. Finally seating herself, Kaela will lean back to rest against a supporting tree or wall, set her music to some soothing jazz, and begin turning the pages.

At the end of the day, Kaela will head back to her studio apartment close to the suburbs of her city. She was lucky enough to sign on an apartment that included a window with a view that was free from any other mid-rise buildings. This made her other hobby much more accessible. Sometimes in the late hours, when the city lights are dimmest, Kaela will uncover her reflective telescope to gaze at the cosmos. She loves to identify the many constellations used for circumnavigating the world in distant history. She hopes to study the stars as a living in her future, taking classes in astrophysics and eventually getting a job in cosmology.
