If X-Yux is supposed to be pronounced "Cross Yux" then is X-Naut supposed to be pronounced "Cross Naut"? Debate.

Anyways, eight long years ago I made an X-Naut OC named Xavier, with his Mini X-Yux buddy. You might not recognize him because I teased him with a PhD position he would never get. Well, all these years later I've brought him back, changed a little bit of his information, and finally gave him the promotion he rightfully deserves. I can say that after all these years, drawing X-Nauts has not gotten any easier. But at least I found out how to make them the proper weight.

What exactly Xavier is underneath that suit isn't clear, and it likely never will be. It is unknown exactly when the little creature became a member of the X-Nauts, but its well known how much trouble he went through to get to where he is today. A shy little X-Naut, Xavier struggled to get the attention of his leader and rise to the ranks he wanted. He spent many years stuck as a footsoldier, unable to get Grodus to qualify him for the position of PhD despite the fact that he was more than intelligent enough, and was already and well proven member of the ranks despite his shy nature. Feeling pity for him, Lord Crump was approved to offer him the Elite Rank, a technically higher rank, but not at all what the X-Naut wanted. He rejected that rank multiple times over the years, but eventually he couldn't stand being a mere footsoldier and accepted the rank despite not wanting it. The rank turned out to be a blessing, though, as not only did the intense training he went through power him up quite a lot, but the closeness many Elites had to Grodus finally taught him what he had been missing all these years. Grodus was purposely rejecting him of anything he wanted. Xavier became annoyed at this information and sought to understand why Grodus was going out of his way to deny him only of the accomplishments he wished to make. Eight long years did the little fellow stew over this information, picking at it and slowly simmering hostility towards the PhDs that were approved all those years before him. He eventually stepped over his own boundaries, bashing aside his previous habit of keeping to himself to actively do something about his desires. Using his own scientific knowledge, he began poisoning PhDs that had been approved after he was denied, killing a few of the ones that infuriated him the most off before taking a bolder step and brazenly poisoning the lead researcher. Grodus took notice of this action, but instead of reprimanding the X-Naut for stepping out of line, instead praised him for finally having the gall to go out there and get things done. It became clear to Xavier what had been going on, and it was at this moment he realized those years of denial had been one long loyalty test, an experiment to see if the normally introverted X-Naut would finally be willing to draw attention to himself to get what he wanted. He was given the position he so desired after all these years, and his anger towards Grodus quickly faded away as he nestled comfortably into his long-awaited PhD position. Xavier is respected among the older researchers, but the younger ones still fear the knowledge that he has killed off their numbers just to secure a job. He is still a little on the shy and introverted side, and still struggles to make friends, but he's a lot more willing to make a scene to get what he wants, and this growth helped him continue to improve his relationship with Grodus - alongside the fact that Grodus now granted his wishes far more often.

Gio is yet another Mini X-Yux created with the sole purpose to protect the parent X-Yux unit, though his job of protecting that unit was short lived. When the parent unit was pulled into a battle and the mini unit appeared to protect it, it was astonished to find the attacker completely ignore it, piercing the X-Yux and demolishing it without so much as giving the protection unit the time of day. The tiny unit, now left without a parent unit and with absolutely no means to attack, fled in terror from the attacker, seeking protection from whoever the first person it bumped into was. That person was non other than Xavier, and the then footsoldier was surprised to find a Mini X-Yux pressing against him and sobbing in fear. The two bonded quite quickly, as Xavier promised to protect the now worthless Mini X-Yux best he could. The little unit was nicknamed Gio from then on (though respelled several times) and became somewhat of an assistant for Xavier, mostly bringing him things he needed and carrying around his clipboard for him. Gio was there though his entire debacle to be promoted, and though everything, the bond between the two has remained strong.

* Completely useless in a fight, as he has no means to attack or defend.
* He unconditionally loves Xavier, regardless of what moral choices the X-Naut makes.
* He primarily helps carry around Xavier's clipboard, putting it in his mouth.
* Due to his parent unit being destroyed, he is no longer able to bond with a X-Yux and protect it.
* He would give his life for Xavier, though in the end, this would really do very little.
* He cannot self-replicate anymore due to losing his parent unit.

The X:01 unit was invented by Xavier shortly after he obtained his position as a PhD. The unit was designed with the base model of a Mini Yux, though with a purpose more akin to a Grodus X. Much like the creatures its based on, this unit is designed to follow around and protect its parent - this parent being their creator Xavier. These units will only protect him, seeing all other allies as simply "there" and nothing else. Very easy to recreate, Xavier has been mass-producing these things to help protect him in a fight, keeping whatever the oldest unit currently alive is hidden within his lab coat until the need for battle arises. Unlike Gio, X:01 Units have absolutely no personality whatsoever, and are only concerned with protecting their creator. As such, Xavier considers them expendable and is perfectly comfortable with them being destroyed.

* They are self replicating, being able to produce up to four units at once, which encircle Xavier.
* They have an alternate mode known as attack mode, which they can achieve by flipping upside down.
* When the original unit changes mode, all other units will be forced to copy its mode change.
* Defensive mode adds plus one defense for each unit and they will create a shield around Xavier.
* Attack mode fires a laser - each extra unit will add fuel to the blast to make it more powerful.
