Furu Furu was the monster of the week on Episode 16 of the UFO Robot Grendizer anime, and was the Mecha of another Vega Agent, X, sent to defeat Duke and Grendizer. In it's vehicle form, it was the traditional disk shape, Green and Red in color with a curve fin on top. It's robot mode had bipedal Humanoid Tortoise, with two arms with claws for fingers and a reptilian like head with an open beak for a mouth. It's only known abilities were to spew fire from the mouth, fire lasers (in its saucer form) and dig through the ground with the help of sharp blade that came from the side of the Vehicle form.

As it approached the Observatory, Furu Furu was briefly detected by the radar and rapidly digs into the ground to hide. Afterwards, Akira Hayashi (the radar Operator) leaves with Koji to recieve his old sweetheart, Kaori Shirakawa, who arrived for a few days visit, unbeknownst to them they were been watch by Vega Agent X, who knows Koji's connection with Grendizer is the institute and follows them, where they receive Kaori. Due that both of them had to pick up some goods, Akira advises Kaori to take the bus to the farm promising to catch up with her there. Agent X having watch this from his monitors, decides to use her as a Spy: later, he boards the bus at a stop knocks the driver and Kaori and puts a mind control device on her Flower Hair Pin, submitting her to his control. After finding the unconscious driver, Koji and Akira find Kaori walking down the road who boards the jeep and drive to the farm, where she meets Danbei and his family, Koji chating with Daisuke of the near scare with her and the bus a moment ago.

Later, as the farm sleeps, X arrives into the premises to activate the ship and Kaori, in a trance, walks the farm in the middle of the night, Daisuke watching her, he tries to catch up, but disappears in the dark. The following morning, Kaori begs Akira to visit his place of work, where she starts asking about Grendizer's base, much to the surprise of Akira, as no one has divulge such information before. Meanwhile, signals are located to a spot close to the farm, Daisuke is inform and rides to investigate, his departure been witness by Akira and Kaori, when the later begins to suffer from headaches and both are attacked by Agent X, who wounds Akira and takes Kaori hostage, her screams alerting Daisuke, who turns around only to find Akira. He is taken to the infirmary where Umon tells of their backstory (both been orphan) and presuming Kaori may be under mind control (dunno how he presume that, she gave no hint of it to anyone except Daisuke, who deduced as much about the Hair Pin).

As Koji and Daisuke search for her in the woods, X dispatches Kaori to kidnap Prof. Umon, to take the information out of him. Koji and Daisuke return to the farm to find Kaori having taken Umon hostage at gun point (YOU SKIP A FEW STEPS PRODUCERS), ordering everyone to be still under threat of killing him. Daisuke informing Koji to remove the hair pin, but Akira comes in and tries to convince her to shoot him first: Kaori, who's emotions for Akira make her ignore X's orders, fights the control and faints. Daisuke takes the pin and destroys the chip.

Furious by the developments, X takes off on the Furu Furu to attack. Koji dog fights the Saucer with the TFO as Daisuke launches the Grendizer and arrives as Koji is shutdown and the two take on each other, but Furu Furu gets shutdown. The Saucer transforms into its true form to fight and Grendizer ejects to take on the challenger. The fight doesn't last long, both able to take on the other, but finally Grendizer cuts the Hands of the Saucer beast with the Shoulder Boomerangs, then uses Double Harken and decapitates the Monster. Duke finishes the Monster's body and Agent X with Space Thunder.

After the ordeal, Kaori apologies to everyone for her wrong doings, though all are forgiven as none of it was her fault. She then leave with Akira, with Umon and Daisuke commenting that Akira's bravery and Kaori's love help defeat the evil designs of Vega: A "Victory of Love" in reference to the title of the Episode.
