Thanks a lot, seriously! I love that gladiator-looking aesthetic.
I wasn't all that into Amano until by chance I downloaded his black and white books, MONO 1 & 2. Now I can really see the appeal of his sensuous, 'gooey' style. In a way he reminds me of Frank Frazetta in both the keen cartooning sense and heavy, murky colours as well as the fantastical erotic/violent subjects. Amano's wide, flat Noh-esque faces still give me the creeps, though.
