It's a town that has a lot of European heritage, so they made it kind of European-themed. Most of Brazil looks nothing like that XD Plus, it's high in a mountain range so the weather is a bit more temperate, which allows the pine trees to grow.
In my city, we say Campos do Jordão is where rich people go to show off their expensive (and useless, it's still a tropical country, for goodness' sake) winter coats XD
