(commission) Untitled Species Society
I was commissioned by
Osuenn to help him design and develop a species from the ground up. I love that sorta stuff so I had great fun doing these.
He's still working out a name for these guys, so for now they're remain "untitled species".
The anatomy page of this species can be found here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/32991179/
This guys live in forested areas and being evolved from tree climbing species they build their homes in the tree tops. Their natural predators are birds of prey, so in order to deter them they build their hanging huts with pointed sticks on their roofs. Overall their technological stage is comparable to Earth's stone age.
This species is very peaceful, preferring cooperation over conflict. Tribal wars are unheard of and they don't put much value in martial prowess. This is due to their small stature making almost every resource a great abundance to them. The main conflict they have is with fending off the birds that prey on them. Because of that they don't develop tools that are purely weapons and instead have handy tools that are weapons second.
They are omnivorous with a diet leaning towards fruits and vegetables. They know how to create fire, however it's not central to their society. They usually have just a single small fire pit that they use to cook more tougher foods and to heat up thermal mineral rocks which are distributed amongst the homes to keep them warm on cold nights.
Clothing is not their most developed societal aspect, on account of their dense fur making up for the most of it. However they do wear some clothes to protect the more sensitive parts of their body, like the crotch with males and especially the breasts of females because their milk is very sensitive to cold temperatures.
Due to there being a larger amount of females than males, they usually have polyamorous relationships where a single male can be the mate of up to 4 females. If a female gets offspring, the other females in the family help with raising and even breast feeding the youngs, giving children of this species essentially multiple parents.

Interesting little critters, definitely could be a very fun idea to explore, with everything being so big to them. A raven about equals a dragon in their world! The concept kind of reminds me to the Secret of NIMH, although of course rather just for the size, and it is a nice animated film featuring something akin.
You mean this one: Mouse Guard comic? Seems interesting indeed by the description, could be a good choice to pick up a few actual books, eh, well, comics, again for a read, thank you for suggesting it!
