I took that disgusting black paint off. It looked like it was pretending to be a japanned finish. Such a fakery is an insult to a good tool. Read the other make over for the story.

I could, but it's not much a show axe, it's going to be for use. The smoothness helps so the axe doesn't get bound into the wood
