Coming up with armor for female winged kangaroo succubi required a certain amount of creativity. in this case, they take the form of armor plating that will act as a shield, in exchange for losing flight capability. It's not light flight was going to be easy carrying that large of a weapon anyways.
At the very least she'll be well protected from any return fire, giving her ample time to line up targets and annihilate them, and thanks to the enhanced network capabilities of the suit, she doesn't even need to see you to turn you into a red mist.

Not always. You can imagine the biggest failure of the suit's defenses will be small assault units. She's heavy, so she's not moving fast. She'll need to be in a hidden location or have escort. She's also reliant on her allies for targeting.
On the enemy side, if someone has a gun like hers, even her wings probably wont save her.
The rest is the wonder of sci-fi. They're far enough in the future, it all seems crazy to us now, a bit like a tank would be to King Arthur.

I started to do some calculations to find out, but it quickly got extremely complicated, and "8ft" becomes an large over simplification. It depends on what exactly your armor is made of, and it get's worse if it is multiple layers of protection not to mention the unsaid weight, material, and exact shape of the munition in question assuming of course it is a solid slug. Once you have that you would need to factor in air resistance's effect on the weapon's speed, the exact vector of the slug at the material, the molecular structure of the armor material to determine how exactly the armor would shear and how much the inertia of the slug would effect the molecular bonds of the armor, then you would need to apply a stress tensor on the sum of the vectors over the course of several milliseconds.
So yeah, long story short not enough information.

Did you take the idea of "an ally can see an enemy and then he passes the coordinates to the shooter" from the MGS Peace Walker previews? lols, that was probably the only place I saw something of the sort :V
Anyway, wings=huge shields is a pretty good idea :V She could defend an entire squad with that.

The suit is absolutely amazing and fits the character wonderfully both for body and personality. You can bet someone will likely be feeding her targeting data to hit those nasties out there without them even knowing where she was.
I've been incredibly impressed with all your combat armor designs. If I had to get the paired character for her story line, I'd have to get the little wallaby of mine in combat recon armor and comm gear. I get images of folks calling in airstrikes.
Beautiful work, Strype. I really admire what you have done with her. Functional and quite believable.

Perhaps. Let us not forget however, that no matter what the armor, unless you sacrifice mobility completely, will always have a weak point. Joints, in this event, are probably the most likely position that knife would be delving into. Disabling the creatures right arm would therefore negate most of the combat capabilities of it's firing capacity.
Very nice work, the only issue i have with the picture is the end of the gun, looks a tad too thin to be able to take the forces of the rails as they fire (Rails repel each other on firing with quite a bit of force).
If at all possible id like to know what kind of metal that barrels made out of, that's if they told you what it is, if not then dont worry about it. Hmm, mach 12? why not make it fire a good 5 to 10 km/s, the round and gun isint big enough to rip itself apart if you add more power to it to shunt the round, the barrels long enough. If you have the ability to fire it with any speed as is, you can add a couple semi portable capacitors and use those to give yourself one hell of an "oomph" to get it up to a much higher speed .
Sigh, i need to get the money together to have you draw a U.D.F H-MPAS-K for my race... *goes around looking for cash*

well, obviously, the metals involved in the gun's construction are going to be rather futuristic ones, after all, we don't have effective man-portable railguns now. the underside of the gun is packed with capacitors which get their power from a main power source on the backpack, just above the ammo drum.
As for the speed, I wanted something that was going to hit hard, but at the same time, wouldn't blow the user to chunks from the recoil. I'm sure having something fast enough to punch through nearly anything on the battlefield is enough

Mach 12? If the enemy isn't wearing the proper headgear that gun could potentially do damage with the sonics alone. And the armor on the wings is very practical, as I can't see him flying with that heavy load strapped to his arm. It looks like you put a lot of thought into how it works rather than just making it "look cool", which indeed makes it look even better. Though I'm not sure if I'd want sharp spikes that close to the belt feed. Also, I like the pose; nuetral, but not simply stationary. And the combat knife on the shoulder strap is a nice touch . I just don't see enough sci-fi stuff lately, and you do a great job.
I'm most interested in the wings. Given that they're not functional, I would think the most logical thing to do would have them folded to minimize profile and provide less flexible but much stronger armor for the most flimsy and delicate of the bodily protrusions. But I guess having a sort of long armored backpack which just houses furled wings is much less epic than what you depicted here.
I guess the most logical thing to do, though, would be to not let a winged creature join the mechanized infantry from the start. But that would also be the least fun for the commissioner xD

Well she didn;t have wings when they engineered her. That was... a mishap of epic proportions.
A unit like that probably has some escort as well. You wouldn't want something fast zipping into close range against something heavy like that.
Mostly, she's a specialty unit, too useful not to customize some armor for her.

That armor is awesome! My playing field it's entering here! Long-range intercept artillery is appealing work. Enough armor to shrug off long-range fire and more than sufficient counter-power to blow a low-class mech chassis to molten slag bits in seconds! Every single system makes sense except the head-gear, integration of the two systems would be wiser to minimize any user-involvement with switching between systems and automation would be preferred. Still the rest of the armor makes perfect sense though the gun itself intrigues me. Rail-guns aren't made for rapid firing, even supremely dense metals melt in seconds from that kind of heat emission, but semi-automatic would make sense. Also does it have a recoil-compensator? I'm guessing it must have a form of smart-targeting system too. As always, NICE work. The fact there's a woman under that also makes it evident that even girls can wear powered infantry armor suits, heck, if Deunan from Appleseed isn't an example I cant name another bad ass female to compare this one to! Of course, Landmates are a great deal heavier than this suit but anyway, nice work!
Just thinking a bit, wouldn't the legs need some sort of stabilizers to fire a cannon with that amount of force? I mean, the kickback would probably shatter his legs like that, or at least send him flat on his ass. I do like the idea of using wings as a protective shield. Although it would make you a bit of a bigger target, it looks like this armor variant is built as a mobile tank (Terminators come to mind), so it would probably work.
Most likely, the force is not put on just the legs. A kangaroo has a heavy tail, and a lot of load balancing is done to take advantage of the tripod stance she can use. Combined with a low center of gravity, it makes her a bit more stable than other nasties.
Not sure I would want to be between her and a Coalition Glitterboy.

*chuckles* Want that as back up any day. *chuckles and grins* Should have a hydraulic system for leg support in a extended fire period. Since its heavy ordinance the sniper counter part should have a optical camo system. *chuckles* Sorry.. Its stuff like this I like. *puts paw in mouth and bites before going into a four hour nerd rant*
Cool thing of a kangaroo is they come with their own tripod. Good for handling the recoil.
The recon unit she was engineered to go with is indeed fond of optical camo systems. Probably carries more comm gear and a small rifle though for intercepting communications, relaying targeting info, and covering his own rear if need be.

That's probably too forward offensive for a unit like this. Something in her way, she can likely blow a hole in it instead. If the terrain is really that difficult, airlifts would likely be used, or they would be another model. That's why they make more than one kind, though we can't have Strype breakinghis hands drawing an army of just this race's creatures when there are so many other good ideas out there.
I love the idea of a targeting system where as long as a single unit has line of site, any thing out of sight can engage. The military just recently implemented that system with the new Stryker vehicles. Sniper's best friend. :D
I bet after she fires that thing, she releases a MASSIVE thermal image.

heavily armored and armed sniper unit, very good concept usually snipers are lightly equipped, but i see this one seems to be able to stay on battle for longer and also threaten a quite variety of targets, i can imagine all the damage a squad of these units can do specially if they are equipped with different weapons.
