Shay the Royal Guard (concept)
Wooooh where do I start with this one? ;////;
Another commission I got from
Rizen , but this time more sort-of a concept idea relating to my stories/personal universe/more specifically the world that Shay comes from and his canon and backstory.
In my stories, Shay's family and lineage originate as a family sworn to serve as personal guards of his nation's royals. Owing to wars, that never came to fruition for Shay since the royal family and the nation he came from no longer exists, but for a long time the proverbial question flew around my head: "what if?"
What if the war never happened? What if Shay knew his lineage, and was sworn to follow the same footsteps as his parents in serving his nation as a guard to the royals?
Does that even make sense?
Either way, I wanted to see what he'd look like as a royal guard ... and this is the result. A shiny mixture of light and ornamental armour and ceremonial robes. Whilst there are things that, with some thought, I might change for the future, it doesn't change the fact that what Sama was able to do was amazing. T///T She even doodled a nation crest for me (the sigil in the top-right)!
This left me with some head-canon and theories that the colours of his equipment and armour are related to his rank and status as a guard; regular footsoldiers and national guards might have steel or silver-coloured armour and decorations, for example, with golds and platinums reserved for higher ranks. Likewise the colour of the robes themselves; I feel like the red would be specific to his duty to the royals, with a sapphire-blue or emerald-green used for guards of other duties.
Basically ... colour-co-ordination. Woo.
I also really like the weapon. Canonically, Shay is competent with polearms as well as swords; he'd have learned to use a glaive as a kid had he been allowed to. There's no real 'limit' to what weapons guards can use but ... eh, it looks cooler than a sword in this situation.
Either way I SUPER SUPER HAPPY THIS. AAAAAAA. v///v
