Coffee, tea, music, and most of all, the local wildlife.
Especially tonight... :D
These are animals that often keep me up at night when I try and sleep. Especially the tree frogs.
Killdeer- Nightly noisemaker. Arguably the most annoying bird around.
Vaux swift- little flying cigars that buzz along at over 100 mph, they make piercing little chittering noises that are hard to ignore before dawn.
Great Horned Owl- My fave local critter, obviously. Hoo hoo hoo hoo. A pair live behind my house in a snagged cedar tree, and they often duet, the male having a lower voice.
Crickets- Relaxing sound to me, they compliment the frog army.
Pacific Tree frog - Most abundant amphibian around, they are everywhere and anywhere at all times. Right now it sounds exactly like that vid too. Exactly. Due to marshes being in my neighbor's property on 2 sides, and it being breeding season, they congregate by the thousands... Despite their tiny size, their noise can be immense.
Barn Owl- The scariest sounding thing around. Barn owls cannot hoot. Oh no. They SHRIEK like death is coming to get you. The one that lives in my neighbor's old barn decides to cruise by my open window every few days and let out a screech that sounds like a dying cat and vampire being steaked in the heart at the same time. When this sound comes from less than 10 feet away from you and you do not expect it, it can be pretty...intense. I've jumped a few times due to it. TCSHHHHSHHSHHS
Coyotes- Packs of these guys yipping and fighting. They even go on the front porch and eat my cat's food. Buggers. They also ate my brother's cat.
There are also eagles, bats, the occasional cougar scream, other owls, and loud dogs, but not nearly as regular as these guys.
I am a nightowl. har har. But it is true in several respects.

What is funny is suburban development has managed to come right next door, but there are just so many animals they don't give a shit. Deer and coyotes stroll through urban neighborhoods anyway. A cougar was found in the local mall parking lot, and another coyote got on the max train in downtown Portland a few years ago.
Before I moved out of my parents place (They live in a very remote northern Sydney suburb) you saw EVERYTHING. Rabbits, feral cats and dogs, green carpet snakes, wallabys, hell even BUSH TURKIES. They're not even supposed to be able to live this far south...
Yeah, I know what you mean about animal noise... It was excessive. I honestly prefer my current spot, which is living on a major highway. At least after a while that gets droned out.
So, you found a cougar in the mall parking lot? That's rather out of habitat... Was she trying to pick up cubs in a new and exciting way? :P

http://www.birdjam.com/birdsong.php?id=18 Here is a good example Dx. Now imagine 5 or more of them flying around doing that for hours. @_@
I miss those kinds of sounds, I grew up sleeping to the sounds of bullfrogs, crickets, "Spring Peepers" and other such summertime wildlife noises.
I grew up in rural western PA, and now unfortunately live in a medium-sized city. We've still got deer and stuff but none of the noises. v.v

I like the noises *hears frog army outside right now* yep. The barn owls provides some auditory entertainment. Even if they aren't mad, they still sound demonic.
Crickets... I hate crickets... all others are either not present or don't bother me, no pacific tree frogs but a lot of bullfrogs, which I find relaxing as long as the crickets are a distant noise and NOT ON TOP OF MY DAMN HOUSE (seriously what the Hell could they want UP THERE!?) and carpeting the area like some half assed version of a locust swarm.
Though I once had to deal with a Barn Owl... it screached, I open the window and started yelling at it, then I decided it was probably not a good idea to yell at the soon-to-be-face eating owl almost as big as the fence post it was perched on, so I closed my window and delt with it until it decided ever so kindly to leave went away. That was one big mother fucking owl...
