1 of 4 paintings I did for the Volcan Mountain Foundation's Rubenson Endowment. I was accepted into an artist's residency this summer! I was flown down to San Diego county and spent a week in the mountains of SoCal to harvest inspiration for these paintings. It was a wonderful, calming experience. Being able to travel alone and focus solely on art was freeing. Helping out a great foundation working toward a world with more appreciation for nature made it even better.
Probably the best part of Scientific/Wildlife illustration is knowing that your work is inherently educational. That it may help people appreciate nature even more. I'm so happy these pieces will be used in this way for years to come.
