The amazing Jesonite first drew my fire-fennec Silara, and now he's drawn my aquatic beauty Aloe the otter. It's neat the sorts of ideas that can come from discussions on commissions, as he put forth the idea that Aloe and Silara had met at one point. Not only does this give Aloe an alternate-universe counterpart in the ancient Auran setting, but it also inspired me to develop their histories together.
I've noted before that Silara is a former priestess from a temple serving a water deity, and had a close friend there before she departed to travel the world. Aloe, named Alora in this setting, is now deemed that friend, and she stayed behind not only to continue serving as a priestess herself... but soon after to discover SHE is the deity, having inherited the miraculous powers of the divines to further serve the world as a hydrokinetic and aerokinetic Auran of nigh-limitless potential. Rather interesting how one of the girls would possess the power of fire and earth, while the other of water and air. When the temple's community was attacked by pirates, it was suddenly overrun by a terrifying storm. As Alora confronted the pirates, they simply laughed and questioned how she, a lone priestess, intended to thwart them as a storm raged around them.
Alora simply grinned. "Dear child... I AM the storm!"
They were never seen again...
But in truth, Alora is a gentle soul and loves interacting with sea life, as we see here with the mystical otter riding the currents with a family of sea turtles. Maybe someday she and Silara will meet again and share with each other the wonderful moments they've encountered in their separate paths. But for now... Life is good.
