Probably a good idea.
Though to be fair you can still outgrow T-shirts, it's just more a matter of blorping out the bottom. But at least it's less conspicuous than dealing with buttons.

that is a very common thing
it are the modern washing machines in combination with the modern aggressive washing powders and so on
they weaken threads and seams and also make clothes shrink in general
