like i've stated before, i have lots of imaginary critters living in my head. this is a member of one of those species. they're called Ore (pronounced OH-reh) and they live pretty much anywhere horses or big cats could. they're kind of like a mixture of horse and lion, physically and sociologically.
Ore are omnivorous like bears, but are opportunistic hunters. for this reason they are generally very dull in coloration, usually with darker mottling or stripes - as we can catch of a glimpse of on her. however, every once in a while an Ore may be born who is piebald - with areas of fur and skin that are devoid of pigmentation. this female - while beautiful - may have a more difficult life for her coloration. it will be difficult for her to participate in hunts when she stands out so drastically against the background.
. . . and this is the kind of stuff i think about all day. i blame Planet Earth

i bought Planet Earth and my burr and i have been watching it a lot. it's very inspiring!
they do hunt in herds, herds are usually 20-30 strong, led by a group of the largest, strongest, smartest males. they each have a small harem of females. other young adults males from other herds may fight their way into the herd and steal one of the females - thus gaining a place in the ranks. they can fight to earn more mates and thus a higher rank in the herd. once males born into the herd reach adult-hood they are expelled from the herd to keep the gene-pool clean.
blah blah blah NATURE! <3
