It me
So this is me and my 1990 Toyota Supra literal minutes after I bought it (about a month ago now I think? Something like that). My mom chauffeured me to the seller's house and we stopped to pick my old man up at his shop so I could bring him along to look at the car before I pulled the trigger. We had to drop him back off to pick his truck up so I used the opportunity to have my mom snap a funny picture of me with the car so I could capture the moment.
It's a 5 speed, unfortunately with the naturally aspirated 7M-GE engine but I really couldn't care less. I can always do an engine swap in the future, the most important part to me is that It's a manual and that I FINALLY OWN A FUGGIN SUPRA. LIFE GOALS!
Car needs paint pretty bad, looks like it had a Maaco job sometime in the past what with all the runs and overspray in spots. It's factory white at least, so the engine bay and doorjambs match the body. The interior is fairly immaculate except for a small tear on the driver door and the center console. There's basically no rust on it which is a rarity here in New England. Right now the only major problem is an exhaust leak at the manifold, so it's loud as sin until I can find the time to take care of it.
It's a surreal experience if I'm perfectly honest. I wanted this car for such a long time and despite being the black sheep of the Supra line they started taking off in popularity and I started to panic. I thought I would have time to build up a nice chunk of cash to buy one that had everything I wanted, and then the next thing I know they're starting to pop up left and right in "LOOK AT MUH NEW PROJECT" type threads. Craigslist imposed the $5 listing fee and ads in my area dried up completely. With the help of Facebook marketplace and a friend (since I don't have a Facebook) this was the only one I could find, conveniently located a 5 minute drive from my dad's shop.
And after almost 2 months of waiting for the seller to be ready to take my cash and hand his keys over, it's mine. It still doesn't feel real. Every time I get in to drive it still feels like I'm sitting in a stranger's car.
