A two in one pic I made for my collab story with
. Couldn’t think of an effective title for this, just came the top of my head. Just to note, my character is called Drake, he doesn’t go by Draco until later in the story.
After having supper, Drake and Faun kicked back and on top of Cruncher’s belly, laying out on the backyard grass. Chilling as they listen to music, being played from a nearby Bluetooth speaker and phone, as the trio calmly enjoy the cool air as time went by slowly. This is the first time Drake has ever listened to music before, for back on Vulcania there isn’t music or singing. Drake also experienced the surface world’s activities and games played by the children as he hung out with Pow the Rottweiler.
Soon Faun heard a buzzing above him. Opening a eye, the fox saw a mosquito hovering. Squishing it with both paws, Faun smirks from the pest’s disposal. He hears more buzzing and looks around.
“Uh-oh, better get the canola lamps.” Sliding down Cruncher’s side, Faun looks at the permaberry croc and up at Drake as they continue snoozing. “You two sure are adorable.” He quietly remarks and dashes over across the lawn and enters the house. The mosquitos fly closer and closer to the sleeping reptiles, one buzzes by Drake’s ear and back by it again. Opening his eyes, the young neo-dragon sits up confused. Suddenly a mosquito buzzes right up at his eyes, spooking him a bit.
“What the devil is this?” Drake waves it away and tries to kill it. Never seen a bug before, this is an oddity for Drake. Watching the mosquito as it flies, it lands on Cruncher’s snout and slowly drinks his blood. Seeing his chance, Drake turns himself about and gets on his hands and knees. Slowly lifting his left hand, Drake leans a little to get a better chance at swatting the bug. Then, wham!
“Ow, oh!” Cruncher yelps in pain from the strong blow delivered by Drake. This causes the croc to quickly sit up as he awakens from his rude awakening. Drake fumbles over on to the grass and he looks at his left hand.
“I got it!” Drake says.
“Geez Drake, that hurt.” Cruncher rubs his snout as he realizes there’s mosquitos around them. “Mosquitos!”
“Yeah, one was drinking your blood. So I killed it.” The mosquitos soon swarm him, attracted by the blueberry scented blood in his hand. “Never have I seen such foul things before, yuck.” Drake swats about trying to get rid of the insects. He gets up and flails his arms about with his eyes shut, unknowingly walking backwards to the pool.
“Faun must’ve went inside to get the lamps. Don’t worry to much Drake, they outta ward these vampires once lit up.” Cruncher says as he swats the mosquitos as much as he can, limited by his permaberry body. Suddenly, Drake trips over on a tin bucket, flying into the swimming pool. Hearing the splash, Cruncher looks over in the direction he last saw Drake. “Drake, Drake where are you?” Soon, he sees him flailing about in the pool, splashing and gurgling as he struggles to stay up. “Drake!” Realizing his friend is struggling, Cruncher gets up and rushes into the pool after him. Picking Drake up, Cruncher sees him still flailing about the same as he did in the water. “It’s alright Drake, you’re safe now.” Cruncher laughs as the young dragon realizes he’s being held up in the air.
“Oh, thanks Cruncher. Sorry about hitting your snout hard.”
“It’s alright, you didn’t mean to, only light swats are enough to kill a mosquito. This pool’s only four feet deep, you looked you couldn’t swim.” Cruncher says, Drake just turns his head and blushes in embarrassment. “You can’t swim?!” Cruncher asks, shocked by this revelation.
“I-I never learned. I had very little to no friends and a bunch of the other young ones picked on me, so I avoided places where they swim. So the answer to your question is yes, yes I can’t swim.”
“There’s nothing to be ashamed of, I can teach you how to swim.” Cruncher offers as he carries Drake over near the pool’s ladder.
“Really?” Drake asks in disbelief, climbing out of Cruncher’s arms onto the ground. The croc climbs over the ladder and exits the pool.
“Sure can. It’s getting late though to swim, so I’ll teach you the motions required to swim.” Cruncher replies as he steps on the ground.
“Hey guys, what’s all the racket, you’re all wet?” Faun asks as the exits the house, carrying a pair of oil lanterns and closes the door shut.
“Drake fell in and struggled a bit, I went in to save him.” Cruncher answers as he shakes off the water dripping from his arms. “Turns out he can’t swim so I’ll teach him some basics before going in the water.
“Oh? Poor kid, based on what Cruncher told me, I assumed you were a good swimmer. Since you live on an island and all.” Faun places the lanterns down a good distance apart and lights them up.
“A island in the sky, Faun. Got a bad experience with bullies and all, so I avoided swimming.” Drake rubs his neck as he embarrassingly admits his inexperience with water.
“Well that’s gonna change, starting now.” Cruncher places a hand on Drake’s shoulder and turns him around. “Now then, just watch me so you’ll get an idea.” Setting himself on his big belly, Cruncher looks up at Drake.
“Well this is nice. Drake helps you with your extreme weight from your permaberry juice by turning it into fat, and you help him with swimming lessons. This I gotta see.” Faun sits himself down, watching as Cruncher gets ready.
“Now then Drake, I’ll demonstrate the basic movement in the arms and legs, this is the way most people swim.” Paddling his arms over his shoulders in opposite positions forward and over. Paddling his legs little bit each time, so Drake can see the proper way to do it while on his big belly. Faun giggles as he watches his permaberry friend, thinking how cute and funny it is to see him swim in the air while on his belly.
“What’s so funny Faun?” Drake asks him, confused at what the fox is laughing about.
“Well it just that the only time Cruncher ends up on his belly is if he gets pushed down on the ground. So seeing him doing this to help you learn makes me feel happy, but makes me laugh at just how we’re gonna get him back up.” Faun laughs, Drake joins in as he realizes the joke.
“Hey, hey guy.” Cruncher calls out, snapping his fingers to get their attention. Swimming lessons now, get me up on my feet later.” Once Drake faces back at Cruncher, the croc resumes his demonstration. “Is this helping you out, Drake?”
“I think so, I think I’ll try it.” Drake lays down on ground the same way as Cruncher, minus the big belly. “I don’t think I’ll be able to get my arms to move down like yours cause their much closer to the ground.”
“It’s alright, just move your arms along the ground as you bring them back.” Cruncher assures him. Following the croc’s directions, Drake is paddling just like Cruncher. “Great, you’re doing very good, Drake.”
“Oh boy, you’re a natural at this Drake.” Faun comments as he enjoys watching the reptiles paddling on the ground.
