Gozu Gozu was the monster of the week on Ep.19 of the Grendizer Anime, and 20th Monster overall. It was part of a small core of beast, whose vehicle forms were not the Disk shape saucers, but his was a windless flat surface on a horizontal stands in it flight and robot mode. The face was visible at all times and only the arms and legs were retractable. It could fire lasers from its spikes and and Heat and Freeze beam from its ports on top of its face, and used a lance with a spike at its end as main weapon for Melee Combat. It was Grey, with Yellow, Red and Green in Color.

When a large meteor is discovered on a crash course with the Moon Base, Mrs. Gandal suggest the General to use it as means to attack the Earth, the Vega Army blows it to bits with its missiles system, changing the trajectory of these to Earth. Gozu Gozu is launched and it burrows itself into one of them on its way to Earth. In the meantime, Daisuke befriends a small boy by the name of Makichi, who lost his father (an emotion he can relate to due to the loss of his family, bringing back memories of his home world before Vega invaded), and this causes the boy, who is in state of some denial, to confuse Daisuke and the Makibi Family with people from his home (REALLY WHY? It doesn't seem to be relevant to the plot .... I am not joking).

At that moment Umon calls Daisuke and Koji to report in and inform them of the incoming Meteor Shower. As a near by village are been evacuated, Daisuke launches Grendizer to intersect the meteors, though he fails to stop most of these, and crashed onto the region, causing destruction, including Makichi's home village. Duke take a piece of the meteors for study, as it leave, Gozu Gozu breaks cover and burrows underground to hide and proceeds to work on a new base.

Later Daisuke is warn of Makichi's disappearance, and he (correctly) assumes he must be seeing his home village, where he later finds, in a state of emotional distress at the loss of his home. When he notices a flotilla of Minifo's flying by, Daisuke and Makichi leave, finding and returning to his real sister on the way back. Having left him in good hands, Daisuke continues his way and warns the Observatory of Vega's latest move, Koji having launched on the TFO to confront the enemy, he is detected, and by some reason (I think some of them were drunk or they all suffer from the Three Stooges Syndrome) some of the Minifos crash into each other while taking off. These calls Koji attentions to their new base, but Gozu Gozu comes out to attack him. Koji is shutdown, but Grendizer arrives to fight Gozu Gozu.

The fight was brief, mostly Melee combat, Gozu Gozu freezes Grendizer's legs to the ground, Duke uses one of its punches to grab one of the still hot meteor fragments to melt it the ice. Gozu dashes, Grendizer moves out of the way, but the beast gets stuck in the mud created by the melted ice, allowing UFO Robot to finish it off with Space Thunder.

Afterwards, Makichi speaks to his sister, promising to return home when he grows up, as their village is been rebuild.
