I must say i was kinda scared when writing this kind of backstory... because of how fast machines get out of a production line and become obsolete. I kinda felt like i was writing some pedo stuff... so i just said to myself, whatever, let's at least give her 35 years of life soooo it's somewhat believable. I still don't like it much. Buuut meh. i can work with that.

Someone: How can age apply to the robotic?

I dunno. I think when it's a robot it's fairly obvious. Vani, my character is only 11 years old, normal years-wise. Prettyyy obviously she is not even close to that "mental-" or "physical age" though. Age isn't a *thing* to robots at all. I think it's pretty well inferred when it's a robot and the "age number" isn't something "hmmm"-worthy like 16 or 17 that that age is not applicable to the character itself.

That's just how I see it, though. I'm sure there's plenty who will give you shit for it, but I say it's reeeallly looking for pedophilia where there is none, which reflects quite badly on one's character, I think.

There was a "Twisted Toyfare Theater" feature in a Toyfare trade magazine. In it, Captain Kirk is just one more sexual harassment away from being drummed out of the service. He's on a probationary period and is barely able to avoid major incident, with heavy aid from senior officers. But then an envoy of several Type 6 Cylons beam aboard from the rebooted Battlestar Galactica show.

Kirk is called onto the carpet for the results. He pleads "I didn't think it would count because they were robots!"

The enraged response roared back by Starfleet Command: "Robots count double!!!"
