this is Boysen, my character from the MYO Jellyfinz event on dA! if you're interested in making a jelly, there's only 10 or so hours left in the event so get 'em while their hot!

ive been told that Jellyfinz cannot be trans because, in their lore, they are born from eggs that are imbued with magic via a magical lotus flower. and said lotus flower does not birth any jellyfinz as "the wrong gender". Jellyfinz are also already born as children with personalities and interests.

i still want to explore gender through this species, so i think when Boysen was developing in his egg, he remembers?? in a way?? having his body changed to match his preferences! like, i think he probably began developing as a ""female"" jellyfin with the species' distinctive poofy skirt. but the lotus flower's magic understand his discomfort with the skirt and changed it to the more ""masculine"" coattails and he was ultimately born with them! i think because of this memory, Boysen is really interested in how the lotus magic works, how baby jellies develop, and finding other jellies that've gone through the same thing as him!

i really loved designing him and im excited to draw him more!
