She had seen so much, done so much, but in the end, felt so little. The question, always the question, there, an answer like a rainbow in the eyes of a dog, invisible to her.
She went to one, and asked him. The answer, he said from his throne, was to "trust in her father". "But he hates me." She replied in confusion, to obtain only silence. He seemed to ignore her.
So then to the other she went, asking the same. He said from his roaring pit to "trust in only herself". "But what I seek is in another", she shouted over the music. To which he simply smiled and laughed at her.
So she had no choice but to seek their master, the only constant, Death. She, who looked like her.
Unafraid she approached. "Is it real? Is this, love? Show me, if you can." she demanded.
Her touch was cold "It will destroy you." She said.
Without regret she pressed on. "I have to know."
And so Death touched her and she was changed, forever more something new and something strange. Seeing herself anew for the first time, she was terrified.
"What have you done to me?"
Death was curt, "Only what you asked."
She wept openly at her newfound confusions, vulnerability, the terror of being open and lain bare, "I didn't ask for this."
Death was just as cold and taciturn "You didn't know what you asked for."
Steeling herself she stood, jaw set, a woman facing her Death. "This is not fair."
The face, her own, yet so old, leaned in close "Life seldom is."

Just been in deep thought lately. Way too deep maybe, I dunno. I'll be putting up the comics that explain it a bit better soon,*smiles faintly* pinkie swear, but in the meantime... For those in "the know", Michelle, Mary... Simon... thank you.

Thank you, Masa. *hugs back, smiling sadly*
It's a bit of a long story, and pretty dark, but it's a part of what I look back on from time to time and reminds me that I have to make this world a better place, somehow.
Things have to change, I have to change, so that it never has to happen again.

Happy... *laughs at the glompings* okay, okay, I'll work on that, Mr Man. It's a long story as to why I'm troubled. Some you might already know, knowing you, but some is a bit trickier... I'm going to see about getting either my lappy running again or just getting a new one shortly. Then things might be a bit easier to explain.
Good to see you alive and kicking, cuteness. I really appreciate the vote of kindness, especially coming from you, hon. It's a long story, not really complicated, just long, but it's a mess... *returns a smirk* I dunno... my lappy's dead ATM so I'm borrowing a seat at Nelson's PC 'till it's running. Otherwise I'd take you up on that and we could talk a spell...
Thank you,m'dear friend. It's a lot of symbolism really, coming to terms with gender roles and the nature of love as it fits into what we call "life" and "our world". Mostly though it is about defining what it means to "love" someone and the pain involved therein, even in the best of situations.
