Matthew came to in an alley, somewhere in the city. He looked around, and none of it was familiar, all he knew was that he had a panic attack.
"Guys?" He whimpered, "Brian? Lass?"
"We're here." Brian said, starting to move along the alley wall, "Glad your back. How much do you remember before this?"
"It killed them, didn't it?" Matthew asked, looking at the wall, "Where we were, it killed everyone there, didn't it?"
He didn't get an answer at first.
"Brian, What happened?" Matthew insisted, "How many died?"
"Two," Matthew heard Lass from inside him, "Instantly it bashed a glass bottle on te cashier's head, while 'ey was dialin', an the, before the woman at te beverage could scream, it were on her, and gached er neck over and over again. The tiger was about to get back up, but it heard 'em an came back to drive the broken bottle into te neck."
Matthew's breath started to get heavy, and he leaned against the wall, as tears started to come out. "My gosh.. Why? Why did it have to happen? Why won't it stop?"
"There's more too it." Brian said,
"I don't want to hear it." Matthew said, as he wiped away tears, "I don't want to know how many other people died before we ended up here." Then he pushed off the wall.
"That's the thing, how we got here was from chasing someone." Brian said, "The guy watched us the entire time, from the gas station."
Matthew's ears perked up and he looked at him, "You mean there was someone else that just watched us kill? He didn't run or anything?"
Brian shook his head and walked by a dumpster that was against the wall. "He just stood, observing us, he didn't pull out his phone, or even seemed scared."
"Did he know us?" Matthew asked as he walked up to him, "Have we seen him before?"
"I think The First did." Brian said, the moment it and him locked eyes, he ran after that mountain lion, and it lost him around here."
"It was a long ride too," Lass added, "We were gettin's sore, I don' know how he could keep up and ge' this far."
"This is where it gets strange." Brian said, I tried digging through our memories, and we've never seen him before. Neither of us can remember even seeing that person."
"So The First knew him, but we didn't?" Matthew asked, getting a little louder, "How is that possible? What is this thing? Who was- Augh!" suddenly he grabbed his head as it started to hemorrhage. "Did we hit our head on the way here?"
"No," Brian said, "We made a good run past people, but never hit one."
"Then what's with this?" Matthew said as he held his head from time to time, "Why am I suddenly feeling my head split?" He looked to his hand and it was bleeding, there were shards in is hand.
"What the heck?" Lass exclaimed, "Get it off!"
Matthew shook his hands wildly and tried to brush it off. He watched some of the shards fall by the dumpster, and saw there was blood on the edge of the lid.
"What?" Matthew's ears went back as he stepped away, "What did... Was that?..."
"That wasn't there before." Brian said, "it's some kind of hallucination."
Matthew's ears went back as he looked at it and looked around, "It's coming back, isn't it?" But blood wasn't forming anywhere else.
"Matthew, what if this is some kind of flashback?" Brian asked, "Something similar to our past is reoccurring and our mind is making the link?"
"Neither of us care, Brian," Lass said, "We jus want it te stop."
"Yeah," Matthew said, "You can... You can look through my head or something if you want, but I just wanna get out of here. maybe get back to campus." Then he walked out of the alley, looking for where he should go next.
