one remembers. But every fall he gave part of his harvest to spirits or slaughtered part of the cattle as a sacrifice.
Even when he was afraid not to survive the winter, he always sacrifice part of the harvest to spirits without asking
for anything in return. But at the same time he worked hard for his family. Over time, other people noticed that
whether it was drought or heavy rains, this person always had a good harvest. And envy is a terrible thing. When
he went to the field before the harvest festival to honor the spirits, envious people attacked him. A dispute ensued,
then accusations of witchcraft and connections with the devil began, and in the end, they killed him and buried his
body in the same field. In the same field where he sacrificed cattle. It is said that those who did this to him committed
suicide within a few days for unknown reasons. But the spirits appreciated his devotion and allowed him to return
for the celebration, for just one night a year. The Owner appears on a random pumpkin field, immediately after the
call of the Herald. All year, the roots in the earth move the skeleton of that person to a new field, and with it any
random bones of animals that died in the fields. You can understand in which field the Herald with the Boss appears
if you start digging the earth before the harvest festival and find a lot of bones. If this happens, you need to dig
everything back as soon as possible and do not touch them. On the day of the harvest festival, when the sun touches
the horizon, it is better not to stay in the fields, but to observe from afar. Because at that time a Herald appears.
This is something terrible, collected from large bones, most often horse or bovine. Until sunset, he wanders around
the field and calls with his terrible cry all the dead for the celebration. The Herald also carries with him a banner on
which is written the prayer of the spirits for the harvest. When the sun sets, the Pumpkin Fields Owner appears, who
begins the feast. A living person should neither watch nor come to the field until dawn, otherwise you will not come back.
Rats, hares, birds, all whose bones were on celebration gather the remains of the crop and present it to the Owner.
After the Owner’s celebration, you don’t have to worry about the harvest next year. If the Herald carries the banner
over the field, even if there will be drought, illness or fire later, the harvest in this field will be excellent.
