Last for this round but certainly not least, we have our lovely Deet portrait. Deet is played here by 's Fantasia, who I think suits the role rather well as I imagine Gelflings as Furry characters would be quite deer-like. Like so many others, I've been sucked into the new Dark Crystal series and I knew after one episode I HAD to make some art for it. With little free time to do anything on my own terms I figured I'd have to offer up a YCH and so I sketched up portraits of Deet, Rian, and Brea. Only Deet was claimed so she's all I have to show you guys for now, but if there's time in the future maybe I'll try again with the others.

I had to do a tremendous amount of digging to find good costume refs - especially anything that showed the outfit up close. Everyone who worked on the movie and the series put SO much hard work, care and attention to detail into what we see on screen that I really wanted to make sure whatever art I made did it justice. I also had to balance this with a realistic approach and not let myself get bogged down by perfectionism, so I tried to keep the important details in mind while still sticking to my own personal style. In the end I think I stuck the landing and I'm happy with it, and I have plans for more Dark Crystal art if time allows.
