You need to do the hustle better.

In terms of critique, I'm gonna hit you in the colouring zone. A thing to keep in mind is your light-source. Right now you're all over the place. The face shading makes it seem like the light is on the character's right side, but his shirt is making it seem like it's coming from the left side. The shirt in particular could use a bit more shade definition. The large space in the front just makes it seem like a wall of purple.

One thing a friend once told me is that when it comes to shading, the reason I usually do two levels is that the first level of shading should be fast and lose. Go crazy with it because when it comes to light and shadow, just about everything has it. The second level I tend to use for finer details and should be used more sparingly.

Do not fear the shadows. EMBRACE THEM. EMBRACE YOUR DESTINY. :U

I'll see if I can do something with that info. If I have time tonight I may repost this image, hopefully with some revisions based on what you said. I've always had a hard time with coloring/shading and I appreciate all you've got to give on the subject.

I came up with this fellow probably about two years ago and spent a good while tweaking him, but after the original version of this picture (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3298718/) I was pretty well set on him and how he was going to look. And yeah.. the ears. Everyone loves the ears. ^^
