DnD
As a young girl living in a kenku village, she grew up mostly mute, using the sounds of birds to communicate with her fellow kenku. Over time, she wanted to explore the outer regions of the village, and ventured outwards. It was here where she came across a tavern, where she heard the most beautiful voice. Curiosity peaking, she took a peak inside to find a beautiful and tall aarakocra woman singing about her many travels. Enamored by her singing and soothing voice, the kenku girl would hang around the tavern day in and day out just to listen to her sing. This eventually caught the eye of said aarakocra, named Keskey Na'a, who took a liking to the kenku and even taught her about the magical properties of bard-dom. By the time she was able to leave her village, she and Keskey would leave together on the search for adventure.
This led her to a large town where Keskey stayed after her years of travel. Here, Iyesai would grow to learn more about the magic of being a bard and the beautiful art of singing, and while she herself could not make her own music, her ability to copy Keskey's voice as well as her lute allowed her to access healing magic. Somehow. It was around this time too that Keskey would gift her a small, domesticated mouse who Iyesai would name Kubra.
However, her time with Keskey Na'a would grow short, as one day she was struck down by some bandits, who attacked the bard's home while Iyesai and Kubra were out on groceries. Iyesai was only able to find her mentor at the last second, and despite her best efforts at healing magic, Iyesai watched as her mentor died before her very eyes. Before she died, however, Keskey Na'a gifted her with a gold band, one last gift as a reminder of the good days they shared, to never forget about her and the lessons she taught her.
Distraught, and now homeless, Iyesai could not leave this town, as she had grown up loving it, but now without Keskey, it felt more empty and grey. But she couldn't leave, as not only was she poor and travel was expensive, but she could not leave the place of her mentor.
So, she scrounged day to day, making a living singing songs on the street her old mentor taught her, stealing bread or fruit from the markets to feed herself and Kubra, and generally trying her best to stay out of danger. She mostly lives in the outskirts of the city, but every so often, she'd visit the lot that she and Keskey once shared, leaving a rose before sneaking away in the shadows.
That is, until one day where she is whisked away to an unknown land....
Default story
Iyesai was born mute, and while she could make some bird calls, she could not form words no matter how hard she tried. This left her feeling isolated and ashamed, tearing herself away from others whom she could not speak to. This left her feeling more alone, not helped by the fact that, when she was only a teenager, her family was one of many who were driven away by a large mafia that ruled the underbellies of the city. Now homeless and lost, she was forced to take odd jobs to help keep her family afloat, who now lived in the slums. Despite this, her parents refused to have her sell a gold band she wore around her arm, as they said it was a good luck charm that they believed would act as a reminder that good things will come, and for a while, they did. She befriended a small feral mouse whom she called Kubra. The two were inseparable, and at night she'd even let Kubra sleep on her pillow. They'd even share baths together, which at first was a little weird, over time her parents just ignored it. Iyesai was the happiest around this time, and believed that nothing could ever break her family apart. Not while she had the band and Kubra.
And then, one unfortunate day, one her way home from work, she came home to see mafia henchmen heading towards her home. She didn't even have time to warn her parents, as she saw them being carted away and her home burned to the ground. Fearing her life, she did manage to catch her mother telling her to run away before booking it out of town, leaving behind the life she once knew. The last thing she heard was two loud gunshots that echoed through the alley, followed by the slowly faint cackle of fire as she ran away from home.
Now homeless and on the run, Iyesai travels from town to towny, avoiding larger settlements and looking for a place to rest her tired feet. She would often stick to more wooded areas to avoid detection, soon finding herself quite adapt to living out in the wild. She kept the band close to her, to remind herself to keep going, to keep living, not just for her parents, but to stick it to the men who took away her life.
She currently resides in a forest some few miles away from a quaint little village called Estaros Town. A small town on the way to a larger fishing village named Doragoh and it's neighboring port city called Aerganon, she travels between three locations mostly to find work, and to keep herself hidden from the mafia. With Kubra by her side, she sticks to the shadows and avoids detection, never keeping a job for long in hopes to keep a low profile. So far, the mafia has yet to find her, and while currently jobless, she's done alright for herself living the life of a free woman.
Wow, this got dark. But, this is the life of my edgy, but sweet lil bird. What do you guys think? She's still an OC and not a fursona, but this might change down the line. That said, I hope you liked her story, and thank you for the time. Have a great day~ <3
