I plan to do a few more of these as time permits. This was sketch with a graphite mechanical pencil, followed up with a .1mm Staedtler pigment pen, lastly with a nifty Pental brush pen.

The literal inversion of negative space, and the way that the shadows become the picture really bring life to this piece. You can feel the glow and the warmth of the smoke is palpable.
...that or maybe I'm just channelling missing smoking now that I've been quit for five, six years now. :)
