Snow bellied squirrel species ref (notes in description)
So this is my first and possibly only time inventing a species, and I honestly think it went pretty well. Using this species in any way shape or form is strictly prohibited unless you have my permission
Anyway, now for the notes:
1. The Snow bellied Squirrel are members of the scrudinae family. They primarily live in cold climates, but if taken care of well enough, can live in warmer areas. From head to toe, they are about 6 inches tall, and their tail has a length of about 3 feet. Without their signature snow bellies, they typically weigh an average of five pounds. They typically have a timid nature and flee at any sign of danger. Their lifespan is about three years in the wild, but can live up to fifteen years in domestic care
2. Males and Females of the species can be told apart rather easily. Males have ears that stand straight up while the females are floppy. The males have icicle shaped teeth while females are more square. And the females have much longer fur than the males
3. The one major thing that deviates from their mostly white color pattern is their glassy blue eyes
4. The squirrels organs are normally exposed, so they compact a large amount of snow onto themselves to keep their organs in place. This snow is packed tightly in place to prevent it from coming loose from impacts, but they typically keep their snowbellies as big as possible to keep their chance of survival at a maximum. Newborns would die if they were born live, luckily the species lays eggs, and while the father collects snow for the newborns, the mother prepares for them to hatch. Though because the snow is the only thing keeping them alive, they cannot survive in temperatures above freezing
5. unlike most mammals, whose tails emerge from the small of their backs, snowbelly squirrels tails grow between their legs similar to some reptiles
I hope you guys enjoyed this, I had a lot of fun making it
