's recipe for homemade spicy hummus!
traditional hummus is a combination of ceci*garbanzo bean* and sesame butter *tahini* with a touch of lemon juice, olive oil, garlic and served with warm pita bread!
my hummus is rather spicy! so if you're looking for a nice bland taste with no kick, ditch the curry and jalapeno.
You will need
2 cans *30 oz* of garbanzo bean in juice
1/4 cup sesame butter/tahini
5 cloves of garlic
1 tablespoon curry
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1/4 cup lemon juice
2 jalapenos *seeds removed*
2 tablespoons olive oil *safflower oil is a good alternative*
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon pepper
1 food processors/blender
Directions
place all ingredients in blender, set on liquefy until you have a smooth texture. I recommend placing the spices and tahini first and with the blender on low, slowly introduce the garbanzo beans: make sure you dump the garbanzo juice in as well.
sprinkle with a little paprika, lemon juice and olive oil to garnish and serve with piping hot pita bread!
