Hey noodle what did you do today?
Well I had a dream that I was on the server I play on and Guude and Jsano came on, but they were breaking blocks and had to be banned. After that I had another dream that I was a dragon and trying to proteccsome magic item, when I discovered my uncle Phil was also a draguh and trying to give it to badguys! Hecc!
I woke up several times throughout the night because it got so cold...I'd estimate in the 40s or 30s, but I simply coiled in my blanket and sleeping bag like a burrito and stayed nice and comfy! When I woke I brushed my teeth and used the bathroom and packed my stuff, which I found had a bit of sap on it. I pulled most of it off, but my sleeping bag and blanket will need a good wash.
I got in the car and headed to Yosemite, which was right there. Thankfully I left so early, because I only had to wait about 5 minutes to get into the park (Whereas when I left, the line seemed to reach 30 minutes or more!).
Yosemtie was cool, but disappointingly busy. I parked and hiked to the Bridalveil Falls, which spilled over a cliff hundreds of feet above us. It was a smol hike and I even scrambled over some rocks when I got closer, but I didn't feel like getting too close.
After, I drove to the visitor center, and parking was nightmarish. I mean, it was horrible...Bad...Indescribably so! I circled the lot for a good half hour and even considered swiping a handicap spot, but eventually I found a spot that...Well it wasn't a parking spot, but it was close. At the very least I'd be out of the way long enough to get a stamp and some coins.
I headed to the village, which was also busy, then grabbed a few tokens in the shop...And found out my passport was still in the car! Hecc! I had the ranger just give me a receipt, then stamped that...I'll glue it in the book or something.
I headed back to my car and plugged in the cords for Lassen Volcano, then as I left an Asian tourist family swiped my not-a-spot. Pulling out, I saw they had even put up a barricade to keep any more people from entering.
The drive out of Yosemite was pretty bad, then it got worse, then better. After the California Road Commission had enough with building serpentine roads that snaked down mountains in illogical ways, they decided to let them cut through flat open spaces filled with vineyards and orchards and golden fields. I tried calling mum in this time, but no answer. Instead I called grandma and chatted with her, once more promising I'd stay safe. I called my sister, but like the call with grandma, it cut out a few times as I drove. Does the West even understand how to make decent roads or create cell reception?
I passed through more roads that, while winding, weren't nearly a quarter as bad, then drove up to Lassen visitor center. It was closed, but I was able to use the bathroom, snag a map, fill all my water bottles (Which took a while, since the bottle filling fountain was off, and I had to use a water fountain), then did a little walk around the center. It had a trail that included numerous boulders from various eruptions in the park's past.
...Wait, why didn't anyone tell me Lassen Volcano National Park was a volcano!? D:
Oh well. Thankfully it was not busy at all, and I was able to set up camp near the visitor center in a campground that shared the same parking lot. Once my tent was comfortably guarding my location, I did some typing! Once I completed my day's journal, I retreated to my tent and fell asleep as the Sun dipped behind the mountains.
I hope everyone has a Yosemite and Lassen Volcano day! <333
