Hey noodle what did you do today?
Well I woke up as the Sun was just cresting the horizon and figured it was a good time to get started for the day. I brushed my teeth and headed out.
It was a long, fairly monotonous day spent driving. I browsed the radio stations as they phased in and out of existence. I saw some fields that had flooded, as well as some buildings caught in the waters. I encountered approximately 50,000 areas where the road was being worked on.
The first time I stopped for gas I got a sausage muffin and Sausage McGriddle with a conke and hashbrown. As I passed by Minnesota I made the 5+ mile detour into the state to grab a geocache on a little country road, then headed back to my route. When I stopped for gas a second time I grabbed a teriyaki chicken wrap from a connected Subway, and also had a Dr. Pepper with some sea salt chips. I was about 12 miles from the Nebraska border, so I navigated past a smol college town to claim a find in a new state!
Then I returned to my route to continue driving. My frand Ian called, and we discussed astrophysics for about 50 minutes as I navigated past a detour that added over an hour to my trek. I got more gas. I grabbed a cache in Iowa at a rest stop. I headed on.
As I passed through Missouri my Engineer frand called and we chatted for about 90 minutes, which really helped pass the time. I saw some clouds looming in the distance and anticipated a storm!
The storm was kinda meh...A bit of heat lightning, a couple strikes, not much rain. I stopped in a smol town for gas and Taco Bell (Steak quesarito with soft taco and Baja Blast), and can I just say how much I hate night driving? The headlights are blinding, the dark is too much of a void, and people familiar with the roadways are angry assholes who honk at you for not driving at superluminal speeds!
But I got back on the road and managed to pass through St. Louis with no problems...Then into the country again! Mum called at various points, and as time wound on more and more familiar sites appeared...Until I was on the road past Paducah...The road into the county...The road leading to our neighborhood...HOME! :D
Mum and I chatted while I drank a beer, then around 2 I headed downstairs and grabbed a shower and did some typing. I planned to go to bed early, but I had to do some typing and watched some South Park and tubes and I wound up staying up until about 5:45 AM!
I hope everyone has a home-returning day! <333
