Hey noodle what did you do today?
Well I woke up at about 9:45 and headed downstairs, and for the first time in FOREVER, it was finally cool! I dressed in a blanket and relaxed until mum and dad arrived around 10ish. We were gonna call the storage facility and move all the furniture grandma is giving me to it, but most of the morning was spent with dad repeating the same plan over and over again. It's no wonder he has so many business meetings...If he spent all that time doing instead of discussing, things could get done!
But after about an hour and a half he decided to call and order a facility, then as soon as we were about to head to the facility Kathy called and said she wanted to visit. Kathy is one of grandpa's 3 children, and she always seems a little...Not there? Ditzy?
Ditzy. We were nervous about her arrival and how grandma would react, but it wasn't that bad...Though still a bit bad Grandma just wants to clean up the stuff she's taking and go back to Marco, whereas Kathy was like “You want the kids to come visit?” and “You should let yourself cry if you want.” and a whole lot of platitudes that mean nothing but got grandma fairly riled up. She didn't need a lecture and was trying to tell Kathy that she had a plan all figured out, but Kathy has trouble reading social cues it seems. Anyway she brought banang bread and I ate my leftover steak and mashed potates while she was visiting, and I showed everyone the brochures from all the national parks I had visited.
When she left and grandma had cooled down, mum and dad and I unloaded some stuff and packed it into the back of his truck...The mattress (which weighed a buttload!), the box springs, a cabinet, the headboard, and then we headed to the facility. Dad's Apple Maps was a bit screwy, but I got us there with Google, and he recognized the neighborhood since he grew up in the area! We drove up a super steep incline and then after waiting for a woman who looked like a meth zombie, we got a container of our own...Number 918! The guy helping us, Quincy, was super awesome and kind and helpful, and had amazing people-senses!
After doing the paperwork we were lead to the container and emptied the truck, then drove off to try and find food. I directed us to White Castle with little problem, where I got some fries and 6 burgs and a cherry conke, but then when I tried getting them to Skyline Chili it took us to Washington Chili. Hecc! I had to re-enter the restaurant and eventually directed us to one that was pretty fancy looking! Mum and dad parked while I ate, and they went inside for food of their own. When they got back I directed dad back onto the highway, then he drove us back to grandma's. They ate (I sat in the other room, since Skyline disgusts me), then because dad had a phone call mum and I spent time unloading the upstairs room. The TV was super heavy but I got it off the shelves, then mum and I took most of the stuff downstairs. Dad finished his call and helped get the rest, and we managed to get everything else in just one more trip...Success!
We got back home around 4:15 and I took time to repot grandma's aloe plants into my Dr. Seuss tree. As hard as it is to believe, they survived 5 years with no care at all...Left alone in a house, presumably surviving from humidity. Dang! After they had a new home and a little water, I headed downstairs just as mum and dad were leaving. We went upstairs and dad chatted with Leo for a bit (He arrived while we were making the second delivery, and was there to wrap the glass mirrors that look like the New York skyline). In that time I headed downstairs to put a bottle of cherry back that dad thought Leo would want, and then grabbed the frames to the bed we had carted off.
After putting them away I went downstairs and sorted a few things out, then back upstairs as they were leaving. After they headed out, I rested on the couch and took a nodl nap...But I woke up at 7:30 when Jeopardy started. I didn't do too well, and after it was over I went upstairs and grabbed a shower. Leo was still working, carefully making boxes of foam for each section of the glass...A long time! When I got out grandma said my singing was good!
I headed to bed but then got hungry so I went downstairs for Pizza Rolls, and while eating Leo finished his work..About 3.5 hours after starting! I finished my meal and after learning when Don Knotts died (February 24th, 2006), I went upstairs and did some chatting and drawing and typing. I wound up staying up until about 1 before heading off to sleep.
I hope everyone has a aloe repot day! <333
