Jay had been going to Gideons bakery for almost as long as it had been open, not only because the pastries were delicious, but also for the fox who’s shop it was. He was as sweet as the pastries he made.
With his kind words, gentle demeanour, and passion for his work, this fox was someone that Jay just needed to know.
Months went by, introductions made, conversations had. Sharing smiles, laughs, tears. Good days and bad, they soon became the closest of friends. But with words being unspoken, they both knew there was the possibility of something more there. Something life changing.
So that when the day came and Gideon asked Jay to come for dinner, Jay knew that this was it. He was ready to take the plunge.
This was going to be their first date. Of which both Jay and Gideon hoped there would be many more to come.
The day finally arrived. The excitement and nerves could hardly be contained as he heard Gideon moving about his apartment, the door opening wide and the fox standing there, an even wider smile on his face. A quick embrace, Gideon then returning to his cooking.
The apartment was cosy, well-worn furniture filled the space as delicious smells filled the air.
With baking being his specialty, dinner would be a modest affair. Gideon had not focussed on other areas of culinary skill.
They sat, ate, and conversed. Talk flowing easily, gentle laughter echoing here and there between the two. Although Gideon being modest, Jay announced that it was the best meal he had ever had.
The dessert was delicate and sweet, not overpowering, showing off the finesse and care that Gideon took with his craft. Jay showering Gideon with praise, Gideon thanking Jay for the praise in what he felt the most appropriate way.
Their first kiss.
Unexpected. Soft, but without a doubt masculine. The taste of powdered sugar, pastry, and honey on Jays lips.
Time froze as they savoured the moment. The world was completely empty, except for Gideon and Jay. No words being needed.
They moved to the sofa to finish dessert, emptying the remainder of wine into their glasses. Gideon feeding Jay, the overwhelming feeling of joy watching the one he fallen in love with enjoying the taste of the incredible pastry. Gideon knew all the years of hard work and practice was worth it, if all for this very moment.
Placing the fork back down onto the plate, Gideon settled in next to Jay, feeling the warmth of the body next to him.
They sat in silence. For five minutes, ten minutes, maybe an hour. They said nothing for as long as they needed.
Jay placed a hand on Gideon’s belly. Gideon, a hand on Jay’s knee. They watched one another, taking in each other’s features, the flaws and highlights. Each thinking the other perfect.
They kissed. One followed by another, then another. Hands moving, exploring. Unbuttoning and unzipping, pushing and pulling, in between kisses. Until both were completely revealed to one another.
Gideon standing, taking Jay by the hand, and with some gentle tugging, leading him to the bedroom.
The bedroom light being left off, they stood at the foot of the bed, embracing one another, taking this opportunity to kiss one another again. A pastime that in years to come they continue to enjoy.
