The object of taking the F line streetcar (SF has restored vintage streetcars from now-defunct lines, such as Birmingham and St. Louis, running on this line) was to head up Market to the end of the line in the Castro District, then work my way around from there.
Which happened; this is the famous Castro Theater, and early in the morning, too. They were advertising an all-drag production of Downton Abbey, and I do regret not being able to get back up there to see it. It would have been a hoot.
That begs the question: What did I see of the night life in San Francisco? The answer is, regrettably, not much; I was consistently so worn out from walking all day that the only thing I really wanted to do at night was sleep.
From the Castro, I started walking east, back down Market Street, until I reached Fillmore, then turned north to reach Haight Street. Three guesses where I was going.
