Ohh. those are nice! Is that like, a layer of 'something' over where the strap is? What kind of glue is used? Do those stay on well?

The pair on the right was made in haste just before a con, so I only had time to put some masking tape over the straps, it didn't last long. A glue called "E6000", found at Wal-Mart, works really well to glue the straps to the bottom of the sandals and to glue on a thin rubber sole like I did to my new ones. :)

Ooooo thanks for the tip! Where'd you get the material for the soles? What is it called? I have a town parade I have to be in on Saturday, and would like to try to make something by then.

You can get them at Lowes or Home Depot, they are square mats about 18" wide that have jig-saw edges so they can be linked together, they come 4 in a pack.

Aha! Thanks for getting back to me,.,. I got a 4pk at Harbor Freight Tools. I found a coupon so the 4pk of 25" x 25" squares was a whole $7.99 wheee!!!
The problem I had was.. umm, I tried to conserve material and fit two on one square, and were just too short to do any sort of 'paw shape' I think.

Maybe my ability will approve with time, but, I used a box cutter to cut the foam, and kinda did a crummy job. I tried to use the first sole as a pattern, and cut out three more with the box cutter, and they all came out all jagged and didn't line-up at all. ERF! I'll just deal with it, I guess. Next time, I should just use a whole pad for one sandal and make something neat rather than cutting corners.

Did you use a box cutter? It sure looks like a clean cut. Do you think sand paper could smooth the edges? I have a parade to do this Saturday, and I know that my fursuit feet will simply fall apart this time, as they're already in horrible condition.. plus, the ground is supposed to be wet. Thankies for your help with this!!!

I used a Xacto hobby knife, it has a narrow blade which is better for cutting curves. I have never tried sand paper, it might work. You could also glue narrow nylon straps or ribbon around the edge to cover up the cuts.
