Born to a Slavic family and culture, Vukal has long been someone used to seeing conflict and those who work to help people caught up in it. Such is his respect for the brave souls who seek to assist civilians in need in conflict heavy areas that, once he had finished a long period of military service, he took up the task of protecting various well meaning groups, with the Doctors without Borders being chief among them. It was during one such mission close to Egypt that he was fatally wounded while ensuring the doctors and civilians could escape.

However on the brink of death, a being who identified themself as Wepwawet, a war deity of Ancient Egypt, offered him a chance. Become his Avatar, so he might have some influence in the world again, and he could survive. Desperate not to die just yet, Vukal accepted, and he awoke healed and feeling mightier than ever. Thus, now he continues serving as a protector and scout for the Doctors without Borders and the Avatar of Bastet, who is a doctor in the group he's tied to.
