As the train rolled by, I got to wondering about the lucky folks who were riding in those beautifully restored passenger cars.
On the plus side, my brother Sterling was able to take a short video featuring the train rolling by. Now if only I could figure out how to edit out his fingers in the frame, and the way to submit animation here on FA I would be happy to share it here on this site.
The Jedi Club finished up the day's adventure by enjoying lunch at the Cafe next to the Hesperia Airport. That place might be a prime location as the Big Boy rolls back North on it's trip back to Wyoming.

i rode on the Union Pacific and Santa Fe many times as a child, going from Los Angeles to spend the summer homes in KCMO...to dome viewing cars watching the west roll by, to the Diner Car elegance, even the restroom with the elderly attendants and old men having a secret poker game ... if they can bring even a bit of that back...without making it a cheap theme park knock-off ....
