This is my entry for the Project Needlemouse Badnik competition. It started out its life as a #2 pencil drawing, then was given a dose of color in GIMP. This was one of my first attempts at using GIMP, so I'm actually rather pleased with how this turned out. Plus, I learned a bunch of new tricks that I'm looking forward to implementing on future projects.
The Spiky Streetlight (or at least that's what I've always called him) was one of those badniks that always annoyed me. You'd run into this badnik at the oddest of moments, get bounced straight into it's spikes without warning, and, even if you were prepared, it was always a challenge to time the jump just right to smack it when the spikes were withdrawn. Even so, I've always thought that this was one of the most overlooked badniks out there. Hence, the sketch in hopes that they'll get some of the attention they deserve.
