Here's a lovely portrait of Kanna! Keru and Tulu's mom is now in her early 60s, and she's packed more experiences into those years than many people manage in their entire lives.

She was quite a little heart breaker in her younger years, with an eye-catching figure and a mercurial love life. She left many a young man pining after breezing through their lives, but young Kanna was a free spirit, and nobody could hold her interest for very long! It wasn't until some time in college that Kanna started to settle down a little bit and find a steady relationship.

Though she and Robert went steady, Kanna's life barely slowed down! In the space of only a few months, she completed her degree in Technical Writing and Communication, learned that she'd become pregnant, got married, bought a starter home, and found a job working as a bilingual flight attendant. It was a whirlwind journey into adulthood, with her and her new husband seemingly delivered into the real world via cannon shot! It was their grand adventure, though, and they loved every minute.

It was a different time, and Kanna would have had to leave her flight attendant job as soon as she wasn't able to hide her expanding belly any longer. Fortunately, it had just been a temporary position anyway, and she found a more permanent job as a technical writer and Inuktitut translator for a local engineering firm that was run by a forward-thinking entrepreneur. Kanna transitioned to working from home when Keru was born, and our heroes began yet another exciting chapter in their lives as they became young parents.

The next several years saw things becoming a little more stable as they became a little more established in their finances, but both Kanna and Robert's jobs let them travel a fair bit, especially with Kanna being able to work remotely. As her company expanded and began to enter new markets, Kanna's bilingualism became more and more valuable, and they paid for her to take the classes necessary to become a certified interpreter. Live interpretation in a business context was much more challenging than technical writing and translation, but Kanna was able to deliver great results, and ended up being involved in almost every new business venture the company embarked upon.

At some point during that time, Kanna and Robert started discussing the possibility of their daughter maybe having a younger sibling. It wasn't exactly a plan that they set about, but they did rather intentionally get a little lax with their protection, and fate eventually smiled upon them! Little Tulu was born when Keru was eight years old, and the happy little family got a bit less little and a lot more happy.

Few lives are without tragedy, though, and Robert was lost in a car accident a few years later. Times were tough for a while, but Kanna was well-established and with valuable professional skills. It was difficult to both work and care for her daughters, but she soldiered on. Fortunately, Keru had grown responsible beyond her years, and stepped up to help care for Tulu and take some of the pressure off of their hard-working mother. It was a formative experience for Keru, who would eventually grow up into quite the protector in her adulthood.

As things stabilized again over the years, the adventures mostly shifted to being focused on Keru and Tulu as they grew up, but Kanna certainly remained busy! Her girls both eventually went off to college and into their own adventures and, while they stayed in close contact, Kanna was able to travel. Diligent rainy day saving, some good investments, and appreciating stock in her company allowed her some financial freedom to do her own thing for a bit.

Years later, Tulu was the first in the family to move to the Forest. Tamerlane, her boyfriend, would eventually move in with her. Keru would join them after a few years. While not under the same roof, Kanna would eventually become a full-time Forest resident as well, and the family would be back together again.

Here, in the present, Kanna is still as lively and adventurous as ever! With deep smile lines under her fur, and her black hair giving up that pigment very grudgingly, she wears the badges of a life well-lived. She's been to amazing places, been with wonderful people, and raised two of the best daughters anybody could ever ask for, but she's not done yet! For one thing, one or both of her pesky girls need to get on with the business of giving her some grandpups!
