Now we come to one of the nastiest parts as I'm a real jerk this time to her. Hence why the black marks on my cheek where I get hit by her.

Strength and Beauty
Tears and Reaction
The next day things didn’t get any better between the fosky and Anubian jackal. Nicholas, Malika, and the rest met up at Rex’s place for the first team meeting in order to figure out where they were going to train and when. However even he could see that there was some tension going on between the fosky and Anubian Jackal. The wolverine feared that unless the two learned to work together, this year would end in disaster. His girlfriend was here as well to offer him support and she was looking back and forth between the white furred female and long-haired male. Nicholas was sitting as far as he could from Malika while Rex called the meeting to order. The male wolverine began by explaining what he knew was coming up as the team captain and how often they were to practice. The guy then noticed the fosky had his head turned to the side with his chin resting in his right paw, having not changed that position since arriving. “Hey, are you listening to me?” Rex then asked the fosky with a frown.
“Seriously, what is with him?” Malika whispered to Morgan who was sitting next to her. “Is this how he’s going to act every time I’m in the same area as him?”
Rex’s girl went over to the fosky. “Is there something on your mind?” she asked Nicholas.
“It’s nothing that I don’t think can be fixed,” he replied, his position not changing.
“Well I don’t think it’s fair to Rex, do you?”
“Don’t waste your time,” Malika then said, loud enough so everyone could hear. She got up and joined the female wolverine. “There’s no point in asking him anything. It seems to me that Nicholas here has better things to do than wasting everyone else’s time on this team. He doesn’t seem to care about this team, what’s on the line, or the fact that we’ll fight.”
“Yeah, but…”
“Don’t worry,” Malika said, taking a step back to where she’d been sitting. “I’m sure we can find someone else to take his place for fighting.”
“Why should I care about fighting?” Nicholas then asked, the question directed towards the Anubian Jackal. “Why is it so great at all?”
“I’m surprised you’d ask that considering how you’ve fought before.,” the white furred female shot back with a smirk before turning to look at him. “Well then maybe this proves you’re not cut for the team this year.”
“Whatever,” the fosky grumbled.
“Well if you want an answer, fighting is something that can help strengthen a person in more than one way. Even debating is a form of it that is used every day with making important decisions. Plus it can be used to defend the weak and those that can’t take care of themselves. That’s why it’s a good thing.”
“But what is it’s real use?” Nicholas replied. That made Malika raise her eyebrows. “We can talk all day about why this and why that, but what does it really accomplish for us?”
“What?!” the Anubian Jackal asked. “What kind of a question is that?!”
“I’m asking you what benefits people get from fighting. If you ask me it seems all it does is cause nothing but trouble. Especially when one has to deal with those who just abuse it or use it for excuses. If you ask me, it doesn’t do crap for anyone.” Nicholas was talking about the fighting he did with Malika since he was getting sick of it.
“You’re being unfair,” the female said simply. “You’re only looking at the negative side of it. Sure it may not do things like feed or house us. But still it fills one with a purpose especially if you’re fighting for something right or love-“
“Sorry, my bad,” Nicholas cut her off and stood up, looking at her. “I guess you weren’t made aware that fighting can only lead to one thing. And that’s with dealing with pains in the ass who use it as an excuse to prove their better or killing others.” Malika’s eyes went wide with shock and hurt. By this point everyone else felt the tension in this room growing between the two who were standing up. “Think about it. Do you realize how many ways have come about with murdering others? Or the fact of how many times I’ve had to deal with your crap during our fights?”
“That’s not funny and don’t you dare bring that up!” Malika snapped.
“I agree,” the male replied, but in a mocking way. “You’ve been here so long and yet you seemed battle hardened. My guess that’s all you did before coming here even if you won’t talk about your past.”
“No…” the Anubian Jackal whispered in anger.
“The fighting we’ve done hasn’t given me anything good. All it’s done is created one headache after another.”
“You don’t know anything…”
“Do I need to open your eyes? The only reason why you’ve joined us is because nobody else wanted you. I bet you would’ve joined a different team just so you could beat me even though it’s a waste of time.” Malika grounded her teeth in anger. “Instead of wasting your time here and devoting yourself to something so wretched, why don’t you do something good?”
Everyone else knew in an instant Nicholas had gone too far when Malika punched him hard across the face. The force of the blow sent the fosky staggering back and he caught himself ion one of the chairs here. He was in shock by the Anubian Jackal’s reaction. “Why you-“ he began with a growl and then stopped when seeing her face. Tears were streaming down Malika’s cheeks. This was a first for him to see her cry.
“I HATE YOU!” the Anubian Jackal cried and ran out of the room.
“Malika!” Morgan stated and went after her friend.
Rex stood up. “This meeting is over,” he growled. “Everyone else out.” He then glared at Nicholas. “Do that shit again and you can consider yourself off the team.”
The fosky stormed out with an angry grunt. The guy ended up at one of the fountains in the city and stood there, thinking about what happened. “Fighting is great,” he growled in his head. “What kind of shit is that? That dumb bitch!” Nicholas then thought back to her face and the tears and touched the area he had been hit. “No… if anything maybe I’m in the wrong here…”
The guy soon returned to the palace. To his surprise Morgan was waiting for him. “We need to talk,” the coyote said sternly. The guy just nodded, figuring as this female was Malika’s best friend, she would have something to say. Nicholas also figured after this, he didn’t deserve to be with this female anymore.
The two ended up in the garden here. “You really hurt Malika with those words,” Morgan stated.
“I figured. Let me ask you something. Has she opened up to you at all with her past?”
“No, not yet,” the coyote replied. “I don’t think Malika has with anyone. Despite how I’ve seen how kind, gentle, and sweet she is, I think there’s a really good reason why she acts the way she does. If it wasn’t for me trying to be friends with her, I fear Malika might have become a worst person. She had nobody here after all. You were only tasked with showing her around but I saw she really needed someone. That made me want to talk and try to form a bond. In the end, I think it’s really helped her out.” Nicholas was silent. “I don’t know why she acts that way around you Nicholas but can you at least try to apologize to her tomorrow?” The fosky just nodded. “Thank you. I’m sure if you do so Rex won’t kick you off the team.”
Morgan was able to contact the wolverine since it seemed things had been figured out where the team would practice. That was why the group met at the colosseum in a small training room. To everyone’s shock and especially Malika, Nicholas was already there and he bowed his body down in apology to her. “I’m sorry about yesterday,” he said to her. Nicholas then straightened his body out and looked away from the Anubian Jackal. “But don’t get me wrong! Even though I don’t mind fighting, I still can’t stand the pointless kind! I’m not going to change that way. But, I went too far. So I’m sorry.”
Malika was surprised that the fosky would even say that or do it in such a way. “Maybe he’s not that bad after all…” she though in her head.
“Well done Nicholas,” Rex said to the fosky and his girl smiled at him. “Then in that case, maybe you’d like to help me out today by explaining this?”
“If you say so,” the fosky stated, taking the piece of paper that the male wolverine had. It was talking about the art of using words to manipulate one’s opponent. Nicholas understood this lesson well as he had fought against a few who had tried to use this tactic to make the battle turn in their favor in the past. It hadn’t worked on the male, but Rex seemed to think it might come up for the upcoming tournament. So the sooner the rest learned how to work around this trick, the better. Everyone else listened, even Malika who was surprised that the fosky was actually a good teacher. He explained it in such a way that even a child could get it. But she was still not convinced that this was needed.
“Okay, I get what you’re saying, but is this necessary?” she asked him when the guy asked if there were questions.
“You seem skeptical,” he replied. “Here, let’s try this out.” The guy walked up to her since she was sitting down. “Anubian jackal.”
“Excuse me?!” Malika stated with a growl. “Are you trying to be funny or pretending to be stupid?!” She stood up. “I have a name you know and-“
“Well I love you,” Nicholas cut her off looking dead serous. “And I’ve been in love with you since the first moment we met.” Her face burned red, her eyes went wide with shock, and her jaw dropped, a funny nose of disbelief coming out of her mouth.
“There you see that?” he told the others. “This Anubian jackal’s face just turned beet red. With just a few simple words, I infected her mind and got a physical reaction.” The female began to shake with anger, her fists clenched. The fosky wasn’t paying her attention and walked away from her with head looking back to the others. “As you can see, if that happens in the wrong kind of fight, it can be deadly, and-“
The male had to stop there because out of the corner of his eye, he saw Malika pick up a nearby object and throw it at him. The guy was able to dodge the blow. “You idiot; don’t throw things like that!” he yelled at her.
“You’re the idiot, idiot!” she shouted back, in her mind taking back what she had thought before of the guy. “IDIOT; IDIOTTTT!!!”
“Oh dear…” Morgan whispered to Chery. “I guess we’re back to square one with them… I hope it doesn’t get any worse…” However, someone else would hear of these troubles in a bit and would offer their help. And it would come from an unlikely one.
