Classic! The Watchmen originated when Alan Moore wanted to do this story with the Quality comix characters that DC had just acquired - The Question (who became Rosarch), the Blue Beetle (who became Owlman), Captain Atom (who became Dr. Manhattan). DC didn't want to "blow" those characters on just one series, but they liked the story, so it was run with "original" characters.
