Technically the full moon is tomorrow but this one looks pretty full to me. This is in response (a bit) to
Canon's picture of the crescent moon.
This was shot using my 500 mm ring lens which converts to 750 mm after adjusting for sensor size.
This photo was taken in suburban north central New Jersey where there is always light pollution and haze, no matter what. Where I'm from, 'dark' is a relative term as one can get most places, if on foot, without a flashlight at any hour of any day.
The only digital manipulation I did was to crop down to 1000 x 1000 pixels and to adjust the gamma to 0.50 to bring out the details in the marea.
Original dimensions are 3872 x 2592 pixels. Add a black border up to those dimensions to see the originally shot picture.

Heh, I used to have a lens like that. The camera started acting up on me (it was an old Canon, and something was messing up the light meter and shutter speed) and since it used out-moded, proprietary lenses that Canon only used on two or three cameras in the 70s, I cashed out the lot for a digital SLR. I've been meaning to buy a new Lens of Win for a while now, but every time I save enough for it, my car gets jealous and steals it from me. :P Ah, well, Some Day...
