Actually, the GCV is planned to replace the M113 Gavin, Stryker, AND M2 Bradley in one fell swoop;

now theres no need beating a dead horse, the "Gavin" its days are finite. you guys can go ahead and buy the surplus ones that get de-nutted and sent to Army-navy stores. Modern warfare is a different animal these days, the M113's days are numbered, old school folks with old school ideas, about old school combat. just doesn't work now days.
Forgot to mention. your associate sparks on the matter has got to ease up on the marine core. hes isolated himself to the fringe extremisms on bashing USMC tactics. Theres a reason hes a weekend warrior? quasi soldier? and not a marine. but none the less. I'm not here to bash him. the M113 a fine APC, back in the 70's and limited role in the national guard during disasters and such as I've had my experience with them in Florida.
I'll be getting my commission soon, i'll let you know how the procurement turns out with the Bradley and the Strykers once i get hands on with them.

The Bradley IFV and the 8x8 Piranhas first entered service in the era of Disco (and they both had their roots in the same era as the M113), so your Appeal to Novelty isn't exactly honest.
You've also failed to note when the last M113A3s were built from scratch in the US (which was also the last year the M1A2 Abrams was built new), the insanely-long Shelf Life of 5083 Aluminum, the spare parts for the M113 FOV in the US Inventory, or the number of US allies that operate them.
Also, I fail to see what an individual with whom you have an axe to grind has to do with this quiz.

Some of the first signers of the Gavin Petition were General Huba Wass De Czege, General David L. Grange, Lt Colonel Richard D. Liebert, and Major Charles A. Jarnot, who were the architects of the 1980s AirLandBattle doctrine that all US Army policy ever since has been based on. The M113 has also explicitly been referred-to in official US government documentation as the M113 Gavin, notably in this letter written by the DoD Inspector General;
http://www.combatreform.org/USARMYc.....GAVINS2004.jpg
It's also ideal that the M113 was officially named after General James Gavin, as the AAM/PVF program which this vehicle was the product of was based on Gavin's theories of air-mechanized warfare, and also because he oversaw the AAM/PVF program as the Army's chief of research during the 1950s. This is also justified by established US Army precedent, as the M1 main battle tank whose development was overseen by General Creighton Abrams was later retroactively named after him, in part because of that association.
As for that "idiot" Pierre Sprey, the A-10, F-16, and F-18 would never have existed without him, nor would --- as a direct consequence --- most of the US military's collective airpower in existence today.

Yeah, except sprey was a jackass advisor of an advisor, who syole credit for all of those aircraft. He once worked in the pentagon - in a broom closet, probably - and had way too much time to think. He is a shameless plagiarist and all around dumbass. Thank God he's dead.
The lead designer of the A-10 was Alexander Kartveli, a man sprey condemned and slandered before his death, then took credit for his work. The simplest of google searches would tell you this. But iggnorance is born of laziness, and suffice to say, you and your "fighter mafia" are the biggest bunch of lazy pricks I've ever seen who don't understand jack SHIT about combat, modern or historical.
The lead designer of the F-15 was George Graff, who also helped to develop the F-18A and served as the McDonnell Aircraft Companies president. Again, a simple google search would tell you this.
Robert H Widmer was the lead designer for the F-16 falcon, as well as other aircraft such as the B-58 hustler.
This sort of shit grinds me the wrong way. You, boyd, sparks, and sprey are all morons of monumental proportions. You're not the dangerous one though. Sprey and Boyd are. Sprey cause he actually had a small amount of influence in the pentagon, and boyd because he was an actual colonel. Boyd is the only one who had any credibility to him, and the only one who actually contributed in a meaningful way to any military project. And he threw that all away when the Pentagon Wars was made.
None of your designs on your page are fit for real world service. AT ALL. And as such, I'll be refering to them as fantasy designs. Cause that's exactly what they are. FANTASY.

Pierre Sprey was an aeronautical engineer at Grumman for over a decade before being hired by the DoD, and was one of McNamara's "Whiz Kids"; the hand-picked advisers of the Secretary of Defense Robert S. McNamara, chosen from the scientists working for the RAND Corporation. They were some of the most educated men in the nation.
He is also widely credited by others for the existence of the F-16, F-18, and A-10. None of these would have existed without his input.
Thank God he's dead.
This is an object lesson in the kind of irreparably damaged judgement and character one must have to smear the accomplishments of the Military Reform movement.

The F-18 was a modification of the Northrop YF-17 Cobra, without which the F-18 program would never have started. Northrop developed the YF-17 as a contender for the Advanced Combat Fighter program (which the YF-16 was the other finalist for), whose requirements in turn were formulated by Pierre Sprey. Without Sprey, the F-18 would never have existed.
Robert H Widmer was the lead designer for the F-16 falcon, as well as other aircraft such as the B-58 hustler.
The F-16 and B-58 were designed by Harry Hillaker, who also designed the F-111, and Hillaker publicly credited Pierre Sprey as a pivotal force in the advent of the F-16. Widmer was the vice president of General Dynamics, and only oversaw these programs --- he also didn't even know about the F-16 until three years after Hillaker started working on it;

Yet the A-10 only ended up in the form it took because of the constraints set by Pierre Sprey, who was given credit for the A-10 by *others*. Every aircraft Kartvelli designed previously had no such constraints, and was a technical train wreck as a result; the P-47 Thunderbolt, whose only advantage over German fighters was it's ability to fall out of the sky too fast for them to pursue; the F-84 Blunderjet, 40% of which were lost in accidents within just 20 years of service, which Mig-15s butchered over Korea, an whose pilots nicknamed the "Groundhog" because of the frequency at which they'd overrun miles-long runways on take-off and nose-down in the dirt; the F-84F Chunderstreak, whose troubled development saw them enter service months after the F-100 meant to replace them, and which were quickly kicked out of service after less than two decades because their control systems disintegrated; the F-105 Thunderqueef that suffered 30% attrition to accidents alone, 50% attrition to combat, was the only combat jet ever fully withdrawn from combat due to combat losses, and whose first and last flights were only 29 years apart.
And let's not forget timeless greats like the P-35, P-43 Lancer, F-12 Rainbow, F-91 Thunderceptor, X-30, F-103 Thunderwarrior, and the AP-100, along with all the long decades of operational service they gave.

You've shown a lot more ignorance than me, I think.

You've just outed yourself as a willing pawn of everything wrong with the system.
Boyd is the only one who had any credibility to him, and the only one who actually contributed in a meaningful way to any military project. And he threw that all away when the Pentagon Wars was made.
The Pentagon Wars was authored by Col. James G. Burton, whose efforts are the only reason the M113A3 was purchased by the US Army, that the A1 and A2 Bradleys exist, and whose efforts inspired a similar round of testing on the M1A1 Abrams that discovered problems with the blow-off panel system, which was subsequently fixed as a result. The system's wrongdoings that Col. Burton exposed are also the reason why the DOT&E agency was founded.

You say that unironically on a site serving primarily as an online gallery of furry art.
