Day 15 of Toontober 2 is Mushrooms!
The Mageshroom is a magically enhanced derivative of Marasmius Oreades, or the Scotch Bonnet (Also known as the Fairy Ring Mushroom, or the Fairy Ring Champion), created as a result of magical experimentation during the Great War. These sapient mushrooms are seemingly instinctually capable of summoning and commanding fairies. The number and power of fae that they can summon and control can be increased via cooperation; large groups, organized into 'fairy circles' can summon very powerful servants. This single specimen (named Peach by her gardener) is assisted by a pair of Will-o'wisps (Tink on the left and Belle on the right).
Although the cap of the mageshroom is reported to be quite tasty, and the rest of the mushroom is generally useful in potion brewing, this is inadvisable, both because the mageshroom is legally protected as a sapient being, and because their fae guardians can be extraordinarily vicious. Although they have no innate knowledge of it, it is not unknown for mageshrooms to learn spells, whether by independent experimentation or through study (though they will need materials brought to them as they are rooted to their spots).
