I've ran Protools HD music software on a Mac G5 tower with $50,000 worth of VST instruments and expensive equipment at a school called the "Sheffield Institute" : 3 and the school paid for every bit of it :)

I had to buy Final Draft back in film school, and I think that was the last software I legitimately purchased.

I still occasionally buy DVDs and music, but only if it's a movie/artist I truly love. For example, I actually bought Pixar's Up but I chose to acquire Pirates of the Caribbean through more... illicit channels.
