Subduing an enemy doesn't necessarily need hardened steel, gold can work nicely as well.

-Voe isn't particularly militaristic, however he does recognize the need of a permanent warrior caste to protect important valuables, contest land, and provide security to those he's trying to court.

-Grey Voe, or Solder Drones, have greater muscle mass, refined hand-eye coordination, have an unusually high platelet count and thicker scales, making them heavily resistant to bleeding and dull to pain.

-Voe tend to prefer the spear to offset the relatively short stature of the drones, but Voe has skills in nearly every weapon he's been able to train on, making for a highly adaptive force that doesn't suffer from the deaths of its most experienced members. A 2-year veteran drone is just as skilled as a fresh-hatched one.

-Voe tends to prefer chain plate and mail. A rather heavy combination, and lacking a bit in some areas, but allowing a full range of movement while also working with the natural abilities of the Drone.

-Despite his best efforts, Grey Voe still require a bit more to eat than the standard drone, although not as much as the Builder Drones.

-Voe's hivemind potential allows for a highly adaptive fighting force, with every drone essentially connected to the same command system, forces can adapt to changes in the battle in real time almost instantly.

-Voe's abilities for warfare have made him a very sought-after mercenary, be it for small or large-scale operations. Legends follow the green-eyed army, making his reputation just as much a weapon as his spears.

-Voe's only limiting factor to his military abilities are the logistics of replacing troops; Without a stable source of hatchlings, Voe has difficulty replacing losses, no matter how disposable they are.


-With Voe realizing he needs to work with other societies, a need arose for those with silver tongues and sharpened wit to be his ambassadors. Purple Drones, or "Merchant Voe" fit this role nicely.

-Purple Voe are slightly more developed than other drones in nearly all areas. Most notably, their hand-eye coordination is better refined and their speech center has been developed quite a bit more, making them extremely fluent in communication (as most drones tend to speak in broken language).

-Purple Voe are the only drone to have an additional organelle to facilitate connection with the hivemind. As such, their bond is nearly inseparable, no matter what factors or distances get in the way of the connection.

-A side effect of this extra development is the somewhat misconstrued idea that the Purple Voe are "leaders" in a group. Voe tends to use this to his advantage, using the Purples to speak to others as said leader, and to use purples as liaisons for himself rather than a standard drone.

-Purples are often seen as merchants, their fluent speech making them skilled as hocking wares and negotiating supply chains.

-Voe supply chains are well-maintained, with information being updated in real-time and monitored constantly. Smaller deliveries can use a single purple with a sack, whereas larger convoys are often given an escort or even pulled by solders or builders.

-Most underestimate the abilities of a purple, seeing them as silver tongues and little else. Unfortunately for them, they can be one of Voe's most capable fighters in a pinch. Their perceived position as a "leader" makes them ideal bait for would-be assassins.
